Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

If you are interested in this for the novelty of a vibrating alarm clock, it might amuse you. As a stand alone vibrator, it falls short. If you enjoy a gentle, teasing, broad stimulation wake-up call, you've found it in the Wake-Up Vibe. This is one situation in which the noise could easily be explained away to your roommates: just tell them it was your alarm going off!

Use

The Wake-Up Vibe is a panty vibe that is also an alarm clock. You can set the timer to have the vibrations begin at the time you would like to wake up in the morning, and you will be awoken by a rousing vibration in your undies. The manufacturer claims that you will wake up happier, more positive, and have more energy. They also claim that using the Wake-Up Vibe as your alarm clock will boost your libido.

It is an external vibrator, and is not intended to be inserted. You place the vibrator against you, and your underwear hold it in place. How effective the vibrations are for you will depend upon your anatomy, and where the vibrator sits when you place it in your underwear. I don't think that it will provide direct clitoral stimulation with any sort of pressure for any user. The best it can do is an all over clitoral area vibration, with a very broad sensation. You can use the Wake-Up Vibe in any underwear, even thongs. It does stay where you put it, even if you toss and turn. No matter which sleep position you prefer, you can still use the Wake-Up Vibe comfortably.

Due to the shape, and the fact that it needs to be held in place by your underwear, the Wake-Up Vibe is really only compatible with the female body. If a male were to try to use it, I doubt it would stay in place or provide a lot of stimulation.

Obviously, this is mainly a solo toy, but it does have a manual mode which allows it to be used as a clitoral vibrator for activities aside from waking you up. It could rest against you during sexual intercourse in certain positions or during anal play. You could use it for an all over body teaser, for you or your partner, on any erogenous zones where you enjoy light vibrations.

Material / Texture

Covered entirely in a sleek coat of silicone, the Wake-Up Vibe is very body safe. Silicone rates a 10 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale. It is hypoallergenic, latex-free, nonporous and phthalates free. The silicone used for the Wake-Up Vibe is velvety and soft, and has a very luxurious feel to it. It is smooth to the touch, with no drag or resistance. It doesn't tend to collect lint or hair, and it has no odor or taste. The Wake-Up Vibe is available in pink or purple, and both colors have a nice, calm tone to them. As the toy isn't designed for a lot of movement, the presence of texture isn't a factor with the Wake-Up Vibe, but the surface is smooth and even, with no rough seams or areas of concern. The entire toy is firm, with no flex or squish to it. It is comfortable against your skin, and the rigidity isn't something that bothered me.

Design / Shape / Size

Resembling a large tear drop, the Wake-Up Vibe has a very ergonomic design. The wider portion of the toy rests against your pubic bone, and the narrow portion rest over your clitoral area. At the tip of the toy, on the reverse side from the controls, there is a small, protruding nub which helps to focus some vibrations on the clitoris itself. How successful this is will, of course, depend upon your anatomy. The entire toy is curved to sit against your body comfortably.

Size Comparison:

Curve:

The size is large enough to stimulate a large area, but not so large as to annoy you while you sleep. I don't think it will be too large for most users; it seems a nice size for a wide range of body types and sizes. Beginners and advanced users alike could certainly enjoy this toy.

The overall length of the Wake-Up Vibe is 4 1/2", and it measures 2 5/8" at the widest point. Resting on a flat surface, the toy is 1 3/4" high at the tallest point in the curve. The small protruding nub is roughly 3/4" in diameter.

As a stand-alone clitoral vibe, the shape of the control area fits nicely in the palm of your hand, allowing you to manipulate the protruding nub where you'd like it. You will have to stop using it to reorient it and change the settings or patterns, but that isn't a huge annoyance.

I would call this toy more discreet than most, in so much as it isn't phallic or overtly sexual. If left on your nightstand, if could be mistaken for a funky alarm clock. It does lock, so you could travel with this toy without fear of it turning on in your luggage.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Although a manual was not included with my Wake-Up Vibe for some reason, the company has the entire manual on their website, so it was simple to print out what I needed. The controls are reminiscent of an iPod, with a center button and a circular button panel which surrounds it. The circular button panel has up, down, left and right buttons. When you are pressing buttons, the small display glows blue to enable you to see it in the dark.

Display Panel Lit Up/Not Lit Up:

To lock and unlock the toy, you use the center button. Pressing the center button twice quickly locks the toy. Pressing it twice quickly again unlocks it. You are advised to lock the toy before going to bed, to ensure you don't change the time or alarm settings while you move around in your sleep. The Wake-Up Vibe will go off while it is locked, and the alarm going off unlocks the toy automatically.

To set the time:

--Unlock the Vibe
--Press the "set time" button (which is the left arrow button) for two seconds. The hours will start flashing in the display
--Use the "up" and "down" buttons to to set the hour
--Press the "on/off" button (which is the center button) to confirm the hour and to move on to setting the minutes, which will start flashing in the display
--Use the "up" and "down" buttons to set the minutes
--Press the "on/off" button to confirm and save the time

To set the alarm time:

--Unlock the Vibe
--Press the "set alarm" button (which is the right arrow button) for two seconds. The hours will start flashing in the display
--Use the "up" and "down" buttons to to set the hour
--Press the "on/off" button (which is the center button) to confirm the hour and to move on to setting the minutes, which will start flashing in the display
--Use the "up" and "down" buttons to set the minutes
--Press the "on/off" button to confirm and save the alarm time
--At this point, the small bell icon will start flashing. You can use the "up" and "down" buttons to select your favorite vibration pattern setting
--Press the "on/off" button one more time to confirm the vibration mode
--The alarm is now activated, and the small bell icon will remain in the display window

Should you wish to deactivate the alarm, you can press the "set alarm" button ( right arrow ) twice quickly. The small bell icon will go away, letting you know the alarm is no longer set.

You can use the Wake-Up Vibe as a stand alone clitoral vibrator if you switch it to manual mode. To do this, you pres the "on/off" button (center button). Once in manual mode, you use the "up" and "down" buttons to move through the 6 vibration patterns. Pressing the "on/off" button again will switch the Wake-Up Vibe off.

One thing that is worth mentioning is that the Wake-Up Vibe doesn't have a constant vibration setting. It only has patterns, six in all. The settings are set up very scientifically. The first pattern is 20% vibration strength and a vibration time of 6 seconds. With each progressive setting, the vibration time shortens by a half of a second, and the vibration intensity increases by 10%. So, the patterns range from slow and low to fast and stronger.

The Wake-Up Vibe is louder than I expected at 3 bees, but even at its strongest it reaches a maximum of 2 Vrooms. This means that it's not an optimal stand alone clitoral vibrator, and is best suited for purchase by those who will take advantage of its alarm clock function. The sound of it alone is enough to wake you up, even if you choose to not put it in your undies. It isn't waterproof, which makes sense because you rarely need to set an alarm while you're in the tub. The vibrations are very buzzy surface vibrations, with little to no rumble.

As it's rechargeable, the Wake-Up Vibe comes with a charger. Also included are adapters for a range of international plug types: 4 total. If you travel often, you will be able to use this alarm vibe in a wide range of countries. The Wake-Up Vibe comes partially charged, and was fully charged after less than an hour.

Care and Maintenance

The Wake-Up Vibe is easy to clean. You can wipe the surface clean using soap and water or your favorite toy cleaner. Be careful to avoid submerging the toy. If you wish to sterilize the toy, you can wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution.

If you choose to use lube with this toy, you should stick with water-based lube. You can store this toy on your nightstand for easy access, or in a drawer or plastic bag if you intend to keep it discreetly hidden.

Packaging

Inside a fairly basic cardboard box, the Wake-Up Vibe rests in a clear plastic form and is visible inside its package. In the bottom of the cardboard box is a separate, smaller cardboard box which holds the charger and accessories. I'd say it's suitable for gifting, assuming you're gifting it to someone you feel comfortable buying a vibrator for. The packaging isn't trashy or cheap looking, but it isn't elegant or luxurious, either.

I don't suggest the package for storage, but the Wake-Up Vibe does come with its own storage pouch. Also included in the package is a basic blindfold, which I suppose you could use as a sleep mask.

Experience

I was intrigued by the concept of a vibrator that doubled as an alarm clock, but after using it I'm not sure that the idea is a great one. At first, I lamented the lack of a constant vibration setting, but I could see how a pattern would be more disrupting to sleep and wake you up. In practice, it was the sound, and not the vibrations, that actually did the waking.

There simply isn't enough power in this little guy to really get me going. After a bit of thought, I don't think I'd want a 4 or 5 Vroom toy that turned on while I was sleeping; you might have to peel me off the ceiling. That may be why they chose to keep this toy's vibrations mild. I can even understand why it's a loud toy. I imagine that the mild vibrations and louder sound is engineered to work together to ensure you wake up, but that it is a pleasant experience. I will say this: I did wake up to the alarm every time I used it. But, did I wake up experiencing intense pleasure from the vibrations? No, not really.

The low level vibrations do tease and arouse, and I noticed that each time I used it I was producing a fair amount of natural lubrication and was in the mood for fooling around. But no matter how long I left this vibrator on after waking up, or tried to use it in manual mode, it never resulted in an orgasm. It will wake you up, but don't expect it to push you over the edge. I suppose this will depend on your particular anatomy, and some users may get more stimulation than others, depending on where their clitoris sits in relation to this vibrator. But, I'm willing to bet that most users will experience the level of stimulation that I did, and have the protruding nub sit far from their clitoris. Wearing tighter underwear may help to hold the vibrator closer to where it will do more good, but the Wake-Up Vibe doesn't have the power to rock my world, even when it's held directly on my clitoris.

The thing I was surprised about was the fact that I did enjoy putting it in place at night, knowing that, at some point in the morning, I would wake up to the tease that is the Wake-Up Vibe. Even knowing that it wouldn't be powerful enough to take me over the edge, it still provided some anticipation, which was mentally quite a turn on.

So, if you actually need an alarm clock, this will fill that role for you. If you are looking for a toy to give you an orgasm first thing in the morning, this toy won't do that unless it only takes very mild vibrations for you to climax. Rating this toy was hard for me, as it functioned as a reliable alarm clock. Just know what you're looking for from this toy before you buy.

Gosh this is a hilarious toy, and it's really cute. Luckily I don't need intense vrooms, so I'd maybe like this. I actually sorta want get this now, but sadly there's other toys on my "priority list"...Anyway, this was a greatly detailed review, thank you so much. :3

You're welcome! It's a fun concept, and a fun alarm clock to be sure. But it isn't a powerhouse toy....but not every toy needs to be, right?
