Yabba-Dabba-DreamyThe Flintstones A XXX Parody is impressive in its fidelity to the original. This film gets it all right, from the silly plot line, to the set, to the costumes, and especially to the cast. Prepare yourself for a lasting change of perspective on the fine folks of Bedrock.
Great cast, great costumes, great set
I am not a Flintstones fan. I think it is only fair to say that. I never liked the cartoon. I certainly didn't like the live action film. However, I am a fan of porn and this one is pretty good, despite my dim view of other Flintstones media. Mrs. Peg, on the other hand, is a HUGE fan of the Flintstones. By contrast, she is not the biggest fan of porn. She will gladly watch porn with me, but she would never watch it on her own. She was, however, very excited to see this movie when it arrived.
There is a lot to love about The Flintstones A XXX Parody from New Sensations. The amount of attention to detail that director Will Byder put into this film is surprising for a porno. The sets are incredible reproductions of the Flintstones home. The costumes are perfect, right down to the spot-on wigs, Wilma's pearls, and Bam-Bam's club and turtle hat. The casting is the most impressive; the actors couldn't look more like their characters.
The movie starts with a Sapphic encounter between Wilma, played by Hillary Scott, and Betty, played by Brooke Lee Adams. This is a pretty hot scene with lots of fingers and tongues and even a bit of sexy spanking. It turns out Fred is slogging through his day and has really just begun daydreaming. This is a bit of running theme throughout the film. This theatrical device is a convenient way to introduce some plot twists that allows for more sex scenes without totally destroying the fabric of the Flintstones existence.
The next scene features Betty and Barney (Anthony Rosano) getting their freak on. I love that the writer, Tyler Scott, chose to make Betty and Barney a little kinky. This is a high energy scene with lots of vigorous fucking, some slapping, and quite a bit of in-character chatter. I would have liked to see the riding crop that Betty carries into the scene actually put to use a little, though. While Betty's voice is somewhat annoying throughout the film, I applaud Brooke Lee Adams ability to keep it up while Anthony is thrusting away .
Scene three is, in my opinion, the film's best. It features Hayden Winters and Seth Gamble as Pebbles and Bam-Bam. Now that they are adults, Bam-Bam has moved out of his parents' home and Pebbles in on her way. The young couple sneaks him into her room for a late night fuck. These two have a bit of tenderness and chemistry which makes the scene. That and the messy facial.
The fourth scene on the DVD is between Rod Fontana, as Mr. Slate, and Misty Stone who plays his secretary Ms. Stone. I love Fontana in this role. I am so used to seeing him in far more intense roles. He is really rather funny here. He is also quite a performer, especially given his age.
The fifth and final scene is another fantasy scene between Wilma and Tyler Rockman (Dale Dabone), an old friend who has been hanging around the Flintstone's house while Fred is away. Fred clearly thinks that something is going on between these two. What plays in his head is probably the least inspired scene on the DVD. It is not bad, it just isn't exceptional. At the risk of being a spoiler, it does serve to set up the biggest plot twist on the DVD.
Fred is played by Peter O'Tool. His performance is more Jackie Gleason on The Honeymooners (which the Flintstones is modeled after) than Fred Flintstone, but he is pretty good just the same. Despite his great porn star name, Mr. O'Tool is a non-sex actor so you won't see him in any of the sex scenes. Other things you won't see in this movie are any anal scenes, threesomes or toys.
Extras features on this two-disc set include an iPod compatible digital copy, a photo gallery, behind the scenes footage and cumshot recaps. There is also an innovative “party version” which cuts out all the hardcore and leaves all the silliness. The blooper reel is somewhat amusing the first time you watch it. The best extra feature is the bonus scene between Brooke Lee Adams and Mark Woods (no silly voices in this one).
If I had to pick out something I didn't like about this movie, it would have to be the voices. I understand it is the actors being “in character.” Betty is the worst (or best?), with Barney a close second. Other than this (and this is not a major detractor) I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this film. Mrs. Peg enjoyed it as well, although I know she will never look at The Flintstones the same way again!
Follow-up commentary 4 months after original review
Mrs. Peg and I just rewatched the Scooby Doo and Flinstones porn parodies. This one is well-made, but less funny and less hot than Scooby Doo. It is still a good time though...just not as good of a time as Scoob.
