Botanic Beauty

An excellent all-around water-based lube suitable for both masturbation and penetration. Easy clean-up and lack of glycerin and parabens make this an easy-to-use favourite.

Use

Sliquid Organics is a versatile lubricant, and works equally well for masturbation and vaginal penetration. The slick texture works particularly well with clitoral vibrators, and this is my favourite lube to use with the Hitachi Magic Wand. I love that it's organic and glycerin-free, and it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. This is my go-to water-based lube, and yet my little bottle has lasted quite a while.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

When first poured (or rather, squeezed) out of the bottle, this lube is rather runny; it has dripped off my fingers and decorated my sheets more than once in the past. Once applied to the skin it stays in place pretty well, no running all over and down onto the bedding, which definitely surprised me the first few times I used it. During masturbation and if lubing up toys, it does tend to get all over the hands.

Taste / Aroma

Sliquid Organics is unflavoured according to the product information, but I don't find that to be quite true. It has a light botanical scent vaguely reminiscent of green tea, and a similar taste. It's not my favourite lube to taste by any stretch, but I don't mind it - my partner, on the other hand, says it tastes like aloe vera and refuses to use it in oral play.

Performance

A little of this lube goes a long way, and too much of it quickly turns into a slick mess. Not that slick mess can't be quite fun, of course. After prolonged use it dries somewhat and becomes sticky. An application of water or saliva is the easiest way to revive it - unless, of course, your partner hates the taste! Reapplying works pretty well, and we find that two or three applications will usually last through foreplay and penetration.

I love using this with clitoral vibrators for a slick, silky base that helps toys glide smoothly across the skin, but it does seem to dry out more quickly when used like this. Fortunately, a little reapplication never hurt anyone. If you're lubing up toys or dildos for penetration, don't leave them sitting around for too long or again, the lube will dry up. It does last better through vaginal intercourse than it does through masturbation.

It cleans easily off toys and hands with a quick rinse, but definitely requires the application of a wet washcloth (or similar) to skin and genitals to make sure it doesn't linger too long due to the skin's natural moisture. It dries pretty quickly on sheets, too!

Packaging

The packaging is definitely one place where this product has room for improvement. The short round bottle is cute, and the simple label appeals to my taste and provides some useful information about the product.

The top is my main problem; it's one of those shampoo-type openings where you press down on one side and the other lifts up with a hole for the liquid to come out. If you're adding more lube and your hands are very sticky, the top quickly becomes a difficult mess, and I find that with how fast the lube dries, the opening quickly becomes blocked with dried gunk. Also, the plastic of the bottle is very solid, which makes squeezing more lube out of there fairly difficult, particularly with slippery hands - even with dry hands, I find it requires both hands and some effort now that my bottle is down below half-full. This would be so much easier to use with a pump lid instead of the current one.
    • Messy dispenser

I'm surprised it's runny since it's called a gel. Thanks for the review!

Great review. Organic preferable for me, but it has to work. Glad to see this one does.

  • Vegan? Awesome. but humanly ethical?
    • are any of the ingrediants fair trade?
    • Your best bet to get answers to questions like this is to either ask the Eden staff via support ticket, or contact the manufacturers directly.

I'd do some research on them, even send your question in to the company. That'd probably get you somewhere? I really don't know much about them. I've tried a couple lubes, but didn't even like em.

  • Too Sticky
    • Ive tried about every lubricant known to man at this point.. I can't find one that I like. They're too sticky, too runny, leaves a residue behind, dries out after too short of a time period. Im frustrated....Anyone have some good suggestions for me? Thanks!
    • I like the sliquid line, as I too have problems with sticky lube and tacky residue from them. I've only tried a few so far, the Sliquid Organics Silk is the best of them for this. The Sliquid Organics Gel only got sticky once on me, when I accidentally added way too much lube (was reviewing a toy that was larger than I am used to).
    • I like the Wet Synergy, the Shunga Toko Aroma, and the Fun Factory Body Fluid. To me, none of these have been sticky, although the Synergy and Body Fluid will probably leave a "residue" because they both have silicone in them. However I've found that wiping with a wipe has removed any of the residue that I was feeling.

    • We've used the naturals, how are the organics? Better, worse, same?

I would like to know that too, I would also like to know the best natural types and what are the main differences between naturals and organics.
    • This is also of interest to me - I just ordered the naturals, but this organic gel caught my eye too.. wondering how it's different/better, if it is at all.

  • Expiration date?
    • What would be the shelf life of these?
    • I'm not an expert on lube but I usually toss stuff after one year. If it smells funny or anything you might toss it even sooner.
    • Yea I agree. Most of them dont really say much. But I wouldnt keep them in really hot or humid areas and sounds about right to tosss em out if you see anything different. (scent, color, etc)

Right, that's a water based lubricant.
