I like thicker leather...it's less likely to cut into skin if the person you've restrained like to pull against the cuffs.

I like thick for a couple of reasons. Thick is more comfortable and you can wear them longer without going to work with marks on your wrist/ankles/etc... and for me thick=strong and I feel more dominated.
