I transferred all of my posts over from Blogger and WordPress, and was able to redirect my traffic from my Blogger blog over to my new one on WP. That way, people coming to visit can see all my new posts and things I've added using WP.

I know how you feel. Once it gets more popular, you can easily pay for your year's hosting with affiliate commissions. I know it's what mine does. I even saved up enough commissions to buy a "work expense" of my new laptop.

We'll be covering how to make affiliate earnings and whatnot in another blog topic meeting which will be a lot of fun. It's one of my weaker areas.

I personally use Blogger- I would like to use Wordpress but I have had a few people I know have their blogs disappear. I would hate to have that happen since right now I am using mine for family stuff as well. Any pointers on the best way to use Wordpress if I decide to choose. I am not computer savvy and it sounds like it may be slightly complicated.

How do you make your blog so popular and get a lot of hits? I kind of struggle, but I know that that's related to me going for long periods without posting anything.

Wordpress is easy to learn. Really. I promise. It just provides a lot of "extras" if you want to do more things with your blog. So there's a bunch of settings you can tweak to change text colors and edit how comments display and such. It's just like Blogger but has some extras. So Blogger is like a $20, 3-speed vibrator while Wordpress is like a $40, 3-speed plus patterns vibrator.

I've been curious about this as well. I hesitate to post links on facebook, and I'm not all that savvy at getting stuff out there.

I don't like to post links on Facebook since I've got a lot of vanilla people there who don't want to see my half naked self of my sex toys.

Does Dreamhost still offer their "pay-per-download" feature for charging web site visitors to download specific files?

This was my favourite thing about them, because I could sell videos or ebooks to readers and Dreamhost handled the payment processing via CC for things, meaning I didn't need to deal with Visa or Mastercard, CCbill or some other payment processor who is notoriously hard on adult sites.

Everyone is talking about WordPress being great but they can delete your entire blog if they find it to racy. If I do a blog I am not planning on it being G rated. So though WordPress is great according to most I will be still be taking a risk of having it all disappear no? I guess the best thing to do is to pay to have my blog.

Yeah. Regular posting is a huge deal. I know we're going to cover how to get visitors in another meeting, but it basically has to deal with getting exposure through outside sources, being search-engine friendly, posting interesting content, and posting often. You know, the basics.

The EdenBlogger forum here has a weekly thread where you can post your blog posts for some exposure and readers. No reviews allowed, but if it's a personal post, you can post it. I know I love reader other's thoughts.

Free hosts, obviously, are free, and are a great way to try your hand at blogging without getting invested. They do not, however, usually portray you as a "serious" blogger, so you may miss out on reviewing or advertising opportunities. As stated before, some free hosts also won't allow adult content.

Paid hosts allow you a wider range of freedom when it comes to content, but it does cost money. In the future, if you choose not to blog anymore, you do still have to pay money for your content to stay up where a free host will keep it up (since it's free). A paid domain and your own hosting will also make you look like a more serious blogger.

Why did you end up deciding you wanted to blog? How did you get into blogging?

I've been using wordpress for about a year now and I haven't had any trouble with it. Most people don't, but the risk is there. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

We are actually talking about the self-hosted Wordpress SOFTWARE being great, for the most part, not the Wordpress[dot]come website, which is a different thing.

My blog is just product reviews in general, but I do link back to here on things like candles that I bought from here, and I did one off site review on a toy. I didn't wanna toss stuff up on facebook for pretty much the same reason you don't. I really don't need my dad to find all of my sex toy reviews and my presence here, lol

I have a Facebook account dedicated to my sex blog. I blog under a pen name to keep this stuff separate from my offline life, so I have a separate account as well.

I decided that I wanted a blog because I was guest writing for a few people to get my hand at blogging. I wanted to branch out on my own and see what I could do and if I could get a sustainable audience. So far it's worked well and I've been able to branch out from Eden to other companies and such.

I've had a few different blogs on and off over the years. I got into my last blog because I ended up writing reviews for random things I used in my head, and figured that if I could write successful reviews for Eden, I could write successful reviews of other things too.

I actually started as a way to keep in touch with all my friends back home when I moved to college.... then kept it up when I worked in the Phone Sex industry and now sex-positive blogging and sex toy reviewing.

Wordpress.com is like Blogger where they host your blog for you. Wordpress.org is where you can find the software that you can take "on the road" and make it your own. You will just need to find a host. You can learn more about how to find a host for your self-hosted Wordpress blog here: Wordpress Hosts" rel="nofollow">link

Find a "one click install" host and it's easy peasy!

Wordpress is a bit complicated.

There's Wordpress.com and Wordpress.org. Wordpress.com is like blogger. It's free and you can use it to write your content. It does NOT allow adult content.

Wordpress.org is a stand-alone software version that can be downloaded onto your own server. This means that you can write whatever you want because it's your own hosting.

So there's two versions. The free and the paid. Most people who have paid hosting usually use Wordpress for hosting software.

If you were looking at the thread I posted (Probably buried). Kinky-Blogging.com offers Wordpress.org software on their website which allows you to use the Wordpress software, but since they're a self-hosted site, you could have adult content. So if you want to use Wordpress for free, K-B is the way to do it.

if your site is only powered by wp and hosted by someone else I don't think you'd run into a big risk of getting deleted. I know alot of sites that are powered by wp but if you are on your own domain, i don't think there is a problem. i'm not sure about being on their free site or their paid site deal.

I've had a personal blog since 2005 (on LiveJournal, then onto my own domain in 2007), and I just love it. On my personal domain, I review non-sexual products. I love providing my opinion to others so they can make an informed buying decision. I read reviews from several different sites before making a purchase, and figure others do the same. When I came across a sex toy blog about 6 months ago, I decided I really wanted to get into area of product reviewing as well.
