Haha, sounds like me about 3 sips into a rum & coke. My husband thinks I'm crazy, but even the really strong ones I make myself I can only taste for a few sips usually.

Beer Trivia!:After consuming a bucket or two of vibrant brew they called aul, or ale, the Vikings would head fearlessly into battle, often without armor or even shirts. In fact, "berserk" means "bare shirt" in Norse, and eventually took on the meaning of their wild battles.

I've heard it isn't especially tasty.
I still kinda wanna try it, if for no other reason than to say I have. That's how I tried the But Light with Clamato! lol

I'd rather not imagine the latter. As for the former, it is apparently ridiculously expensive.

The second measurement is International Bitterness Units (IBU). This one is not as self-explanatory as it would appear. This measurement is less commonly seen than ABV, but most brewpubs have it listed, as do some bottled beers. Bitterness in beers comes from hops. If well made, hops adds a great aroma and flavor to beer, but poorly balanced beers (or those brewed for people who love hop bitterness) can be extremely bitter. The IBU measurement won’t tell you precisely how bitter your beer will taste, unfortunately, because the bitterness of your beer also depends on how balanced it is with maltiness. In other words, a beer with an IBU of 30 can be quite bitter or rather sweet depending on the balance of hops to malts. That said, in general the lower the IBU (especially under 15), the less likely it is that your beer will be bitter, and the higher the IBU, the more likely it is that you will have a hoppy beer. This rule of thumb does break down with most stouts and Belgian ales with high IBUs, as they are rarely bitter, even at high IBUs.

It's actually not that bad. It's definitely an acquired taste, but goes very well with a sharp cheddar. So if the mood ever strikes to try it, drink it with some cheese and crackers

Either that or they did what some brewers do with their winter ales: add a lot of spices to it.

Beer Trivia!: In Ancient Babylon, it was customary for the bride's father to supply his new son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. As mead is a honey beer and their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the 'honey month' - or what we know today as the 'honeymoon'.

Can you mull beer like you do wine or would it ruin the flavour?

32%? Child's play! Through ice distillation, brewers over in Europe have been having a veritable arms race to create the strongest beer - Brewdog (from Scotland) first did the 32% Tactical Nuclear Penguin, which was topped by the German brewer Schorschbrau's 40% creation. Not to be outdone by the Krauts, Brewdog then put out Sink the Bismarck, which clocked in at 41%. Schorschbrau countered with a 43% one, and then Brewdog released their silly End of History at 55%, packaged in taxidermied squirrels (I am NOT making this up!); currently the record is held by the Dutch brewery t'Koelschip, whose Start the Future is a whopping 60% - that's 120 proof!

I've never tried it, honestly. If you want to try, I'd suggest a beer that's on the fruitier, estery side. Maybe a Belgian or a barleywine? A sour beer might be interesting to do that to. It may very well ruin it, but you never know until you try!

Geez. I guess I haven't been keeping up. Brewdog released their, what, a year or so ago? I can't imagine any of them taste even remotely like beer.

That is definitely not what a winter ale should taste like. The cider taste indicates that it has gone bad, either because of its age or because it was bad when it went into the bottle.

A sour beer could be interesting mulled with honey and cinnamon or cardamom....hmmmm I know heating a flat beer with a touch of honey and rum is a pretty good cough remedy and fairly low alcohol content if you watch how much rum you add. If not you won;t care that your throat hurts and you are coughing so it's win/win

I think we can come up with "smething else" to drink beer out of for a hazing ritual. I wouldn't be opposed to being hazed in that case.
