I'd say big is better, but I'd also add that everyone has their own limit. There comes a point when things stop feeling good and start being painful. For me it's anything bigger than 2.25 inches.

At this point, the largest I'd go is the Lelo Loki, that goes for both me and my girlfriend.
Personally, size isn't as important to me as where it hits me. We use the Loki as foreplay for anal penetrative sex, and I'm around the same size (but it vibrates).
