Is it more acceptable for women to own dildos/vibrators than men?

*gulp* didn't read all the way through. Sorry!

I think it's just fine. I'd love to meet a man who had a toy collection that could rival mine (it wouldn't take much!) and was proud of it.

I do think, though, that there exists a societal stigma against men with dildos. Sad really.

I don't think that there is any doubt that society in general finds it much, MUCH more acceptable for a woman. I say if it feels good...bring it on.

Yeah but in society as a whole, it's viewed as sexy for a woman to own and use toys. It's accepted about as much as a woman owning sexy underwear.

Men are seen as losers, queers and pervs.

As a man, I can tell you that there's no contest. Men give you shit if they know, and most women freak out.
Bingo!

I strongly feel that a lot of people here do not understand the question. It seems many think the question was "Do YOU think it's the same for men and women?"

It's exceptable in our society now for women to do pretty much whatever they want. Men however are still stuck with plain old being the penetrator and nothing else.

I look at it this way. Men want sex, women ARE sex. Everything woman do can, is, and will be sexy and sexual. While men doing anything but providing the cock are not viewed as anything sexy. Look at hollywood for example. Only in the last decade did they stop giving movies X ratings for showing a penis. You could show all the pussy you wanted but the second a dick was viewed, X! Now they've become more open to it but there's still a limit as to how much cock they can show. It reflects society. Maybe the stigma on men not being sexual beings and women are is due to porn. You always see the entire woman in every scene, EVERY SCENE. But for the men they are usually faceless, voiceless people and all we see are their cocks.

On a social level, yeah, I think it's more acceptable for a woman to own sex toys than men. But to me, personally, what someone does on their own time ain't no business of mine (unless I'm invited to know/participate.)

Society, you funny, funny thing.

since you clarify that you're asking for SOCIETYS POV; not my own. yeah; its more acceptable for women to have/own/use toys. but I say; screw it!! I'm a happily straigh man and I own a g-spot vibrator. the curve thats actually designed for a woman's gspot fits neatly under the head of my penis; vibrating against my piercing and drives me wild. and I'm not ashamed to admit it! lol

I think it's fine. Society doesn't. Maybe it will be equal one day.

I pick both genders are equally acceptable to own toys - who cares what others think.

It seems more acceptable for woman to have toys than men for whatever reason. As long as a person male or female inst hurting anyone its all I really care.

Personally.. I dont care. But, society probably views a man owning dildos and such as odd.

I shared my opinion, which is 'acceptable'. By all means. But the general public wouldn't say so..

I definitely think that there is a greater stigma attached to men's toys. Wish it weren't so, but that's how I see it.

I've seen the type of shaming people of college age do to men of the same age who enjoy anal penetration. (That people in general do to men who enjoy it) I've also seen my lover look these same people in the eye and tell them he enjoys it. He's so sexy when he's being secure in his sexuality.

If they're toys that can be used by both (like BDSM toys; whips, paddles, that sort of thing) then I think it's acceptable - that is to say, as acceptable as the activity is. BDSM may be thought of as bad-weird by some, and thus the toys become unacceptable. But in general I feel it's more acceptable for women to have sex toys, than men.

I believe it is equally acceptable personally, but its clearly more common and accepted for women to own sex toys.

I think it is just as acceptable for a man or woman to own a dildo. I'm sure that if the fact were made openly public, the social consensus would find it more acceptable for women, but I don't care. I say, like what you like, and don't worry about what everyone else thinks.

I hope this doesn't sound too sarcastic, but if you aren't sharing my bed, your vote doesn't count.

I think it is more acceptable to society in general for women to own sex toys. However, I will also say that in many circles, it is totally unacceptable even for women to have sex toys. I was watching an episode of Storage Wars last week, and they had all the buyers/sellers sit down to interview them. One of the wives that was there said they often find porn in storage lockers and vibrators, "the lonely woman's aid". I kind of feel sorry for that woman for feeling that way. I'm not lonely, and my vibes make my sex life awesome... I guess she doesn't get to enjoy something similar.

I think society is more accepting of women owning toys then men but in reverse society is more accepting of men giving themselves pleasure then when women do it. Though I personally think men who own dildo's are sexy.

From what I've witnessed myself, it's equally acceptable for both, that's just what I've seen.
