Do you prefer "mindless" or "thinking" TV shows on while puttering around the house?

If you have the TV on, just for "background"? Do you prefer to have like News or Educational shows on or Old sitcoms, movies...etc?

If I'm going to be cleaning around the house or have something on the TV for background, I'll either put on a show that I've seen a dozen times, or I'll put it on something silly like King of Queens, 'Til Death, etc.

However, I really prefer to have music on instead because it's way less distracting than TV.

If I'm going to be all over the house I prefer mindless shows so I'm not lost if I miss something

Reruns are good, or something that makes noise and has no real plot

I normally leave the TV off if I'm not attentively watching or playing anything.

Mindless, usually. Otherwise I get distracted.

background noise yes
prefer something humorous or something like food network or history channel... unless they are running one of the bullshit shows with more personal theories than relevant information

Depends on what I'm doing.

If I'm in & out of the room, I'll put on some silly rerun I've seen a million, or something else mindless.

If I'm going to be in the same room for a while, I like to listen to NPR.

Reruns :] I like that I don't have to focus on the show to know what's happening.

For background? Probably anything I'm not interested in; otherwise it'll eventually suck my attention toward it.

It is usually what I am watching at the moment. But if it is something I really want to see I will pause the TV.

I cannot stand having the TV on as background; it makes me insane! And my intolerance for it has gotten worse since living alone. That said, of the choices, I notice most people I know leave the news on for background noise.

Definitely mindless shows if I'm trying to get something done.
