I usually prefer my home for movies. Unless there's something fun playing at the artsy local theater. The have alcohol and pizza. They play classic movies every weekend too. Like Silence of the Lambs, Pulp Fiction, The Dark Crystal, Ghost Busters, stuff like that

Home is more comfortable and I have the option of pausing, taking my clothes off, yelling at the girl not to go in there, etc. without upsetting anyone. If it is a visual blockbuster I might go see it in theatres, but for most movies why waste $10 to see this years romantic comedy or new documentary on a a larger screen when I can wait 6 months and watch it for free on DVD from my local library?

I like to watch movies at the theater but the cost of tickets and such makes staying at home the choice. I go to the movies now only for something that's better seen on the big screen.

I enjoy the convenience of home, but some movies need to be seen on the big screen at least once.
I enjoyed going to every midnight-opening release of big movies I've been to. Not only was I looking forward to the movie, but I've noticed that the fans are mostly well behaved at an opening midnight release than during a matinee (plus, no screaming kids).

As much as I love the experience of buying popcorn, soda, and candy at a theatre, I tend to get too irritated by others in the theatre who are crunching loudly, rattling their ice, and talking. It's much safer for everyone if I just wait for it to come out on DVD
