Do you ever hear 20'something on the young side guys use the word 'hashtag' in everyday conversation?

I have never heard anyone use the word hashtag, that is outside of a subway commercial.

Haven't heard anyone say that yet. Then again I am currently in a town that only had dial-up up until 6 years ago. lol Man I miss the city, should never have moved.

this is odd - ever since I made this post, I'm hearing the phrase all the time on the radio.

Do you not realize that it's the way you "file" Twitter posts?

Now you know. Congrats; you learned something new today!

It's like saying "at" when naming an email address.

What's your problem? This thread is about people learning new things about Twitter, specifically its terminology. If a hashtag is a new term for some people, so is a tweet.

what's up with the personal attack? that is the kind of thing that started all the biting at each other last June. really, has the community sunk so much already since Stormy left?

OK, I HAVE heard people use hashtag in person, but it's usually as a joke? Not like seriously hashtagging their conversations lol

Yes, I live in PA and this is not the only text /social media talk I hear in conversations. It is extremely annoying.

Not yet, but if I do I'll be sure to ask what the hell they're hashtagging.

Nope...and I think if I did, it would quickly become a pet peeve.
I'm not a big fan of hashtags at all, especially outside of the internet. xD

It would be just the kind of thing to grate on every last nerve I have, sort of like people that use "LOL" or other chatspeak in an actual face to face conversation.

Exactly! (See what I did there? It's a reference to an old pet peeve of mine where point farmers would reply with one word comments that added nothing to the conversation, !)

This is all too common. It's like when people started saying "LOL" out loud in conversations. #sadday
