i think this is a false choice. gay marriage won't be passe by getting a majority to like it, but rather to get a majority to not care. come on america, we're apathetic about so much, let's give gay marriage a disinterested meh!

hahaha

this made me chuckle.

Sadly, it's the biggest civil rights fight we've seen in 40+ years. But there have to be voices out there fighting for it. We just have to. It seems so ridiculous to think that there are people who actively, vehemently do not want equal marriage rights, but there are people out there who make laws that care way too much about who is in whose bed.

I support loving people who want to commit should get married if they want!!! I'm not in the business of telling you who you should love!!

Yea! Love matters. Genitals and what you do with them should have nothing to do with who other people think you "should" be allowed to fall in love with or marry.

Why should only hetero people be allowed the benefits, joys, and protection marriage offers?

Also, what other people do or who they marry doesn't effect my marriage in the least. If I were to really care, I'd say other people getting heterosexual divorce has a stronger impact on my marriage than anything else. Yet, I don't want to deny anyone the right to that.

HOW could two gay men or two lesbian women getting married have ANY impact on the "sanctity" of my marriage, one way or the other? My husband and I are responsible for our marriage and letting gay and lesbian people marry whom they love doesn't.... can't negatively effect our marriage at all. We'd both be happy if it were legal.

my only defense of anti-gay marriage efforts is that they're trying to protect gays from the hellscape of marriage that straight people made for ourselves. It was one of our WORST ideas. Not slavery, or nazi bad, but in the top 50 at least.

Yay. It doesn't make sense to me that straight people can get married but gays cannot. It's the same thing.

I'm a yay! I personally know a lesbian couple you have a daughter and they are such amazing parents! It's sad that they can't have the same rights as a man and a women.

YAY!!!

Seriously there is something wrong with you if you would deny anyone, regardless of their beliefs the right to love one another. It isn't hurting you or affecting you in any way at all. Gay people will get married, that is all that will happen. The end. There won't be a worldwide meltdown apocalypse or anything. Get over it already. It sickens me that "the sanctity of marriage" in America is mostly a heterosexual right. Celebrities and their 48 hour marriages are fine but two loving same sex partners who have been together for years can't get married? Rally? I am ashamed to live in this country sometimes.

Even if I think marriage is a bad idea, I would be an ass to keep others from marrying: maybe it'll work for them. It would also be good if people could marry multiple persons, for polyamorous folks.

I'm for gay marriage. I'm currently engaged in a debate on another forum on this very topic. The man I'm talking to kind of gets my goat a little. It's very difficult to maintain an objective stance when he says such things as 'gay marriage promotes deviant lifestyles that have been proven to have a detrimental effect on society, raise illegitimacy and out of wedlock births, increase poverty and government dependence, among many other negative effects on society.'. Riiight. Anyway, a friend of mine showed me a video that I wanted to share. It's a look at the Bible's stance on homosexuality, and that it's not as anti-gay as people believe. It's an hour long video, but very informative.

I'm straight. I honestly do not give a crap about who does what with their genitals as long as they're not waggling them in my face.

Get married, don't get married. I don't care. Everyone should be free to marry who they want. So if that means that you want to marry a sheep, another man, another woman, a pack of bubblicious bubble gum or a television set, I have no qualms about it.

Go forth and be married, although it's not all it's cracked up to be.

there are over 1200 legal rights that come with being married. denying couples those rights is abhorrent.

Gay people exist, they will continue to exist. Gay families exist, they will continue to exist.

Blocking marriage for part of the population just makes it more difficult for families and for children. If one partner gets sick the hospital treats the other like a stranger. These are real rights that affect the health and well being of a family.

It's ridiculous that people are even against it. There is no GOOD reason not to allow it. The people who are against gay marriage are going to feel like those who were against civil rights and women's rights. It's discrimination to deny someone a right and/or freedom just because you think there is something wrong with it. It's not your place to say there is or isn't. We should have RESPECT for everyone's choice and give everyone the option to do as they wish. As long as it doesn't hurt someone there is nothing wrong with it. What two CONSENTING ADULTS do is none on anyone's business, but their own.
