I never see the point of polls like this, which contain a gender option, because there's no visible link between which sex chose which of the other answers, it only serves to display a ratio of the respondents.

Right, it depends on what the poll's about. I usually make the voting private if they're about sensitive matters, and public for everything else. I also like to let people have multiple choices rather than restricting them to pick one answer only.

There have been some polls where the voting was public and I did not vote. There are other polls where public voting is better and I enjoy reading who responded which way, so I agree with my fellow posters it depends! Multiple choice answers should include as many options as the poster can think of and then include other because there is usally an other.

As long as I don't mind the topic (which happens extremely rarely) then either public or private is ok for me, and I don't like it only sometimes when there aren't more choices, it depends on the question... ^^

It depends on what the poll is about. I've seen some that were not private polls, that I simply didn't vote on because the subject matter was not something I wanted to share. Other polls, it's interesting to see what the people who are friends with feel about certain issues, so those are better with the names on them.
As for multiple or single answers, again, it depends on what the poll is about.

I'll vote on either a public or private poll, but I prefer the private ones...if I want to make a comment after the fact (such as this), it is pretty easy to figure out how I voted anyway...

It depends.
The majority of polls I have created I have made them private voting, but when it comes to toy stuff, I make it public. For then, I can see who picked what and then if I am not satisfied with their responses I can email them.
When it comes to mulitple picking, I usually make it single option if it is a black or white answer, and if it is a grey answer, I keep it open.
