I'd be more likely to get a symbol of my partner as a tattoo rather than their name but only if it was a serious long term relationship. I would, however, make sure it was something that could be easily covered if things didn't work out.

Seems to me that it sounds like a great idea, looks great if you've seen people do who are truly committed to each other, but the reality is that I personally wouldn't do it. I think it's a very large step, and if there is any doubt about whether or not you'll regret it, I wouldn't. Kudos to those of you who have the courage to though!

I voted never simply because I don't plan on getting ANY tattoos....but in theory, I am okay with couples tattoos for the right couples (ones in long term relationships...you can't erase the memory of a 5 yr relationship, nor the tattoo representing it).

I actually have a tattoo, and I love it. I have no intention of ever divorcing my husband, and he never wants to get divorced. That said, I will never ever ever get a tat of my husband's name--or anyone else's name, for that matter. There's something degrading about that IMO, almost like "property of x". Not to mention that it is traditionally the kiss of death to any relationship. I wouldn't even get my own name done, because I don't want a stranger to know my name without introducing him or herself.

I might get something that symbolizes our relationship, but I would never get a name. I like the idea of a tattooed wedding ring under your bands. But I think the name is just asking for disaster.
