Review Program Update - Accepting Proposals

I think the technical aspects of the toy are most important (quality - materials/features/fun ction...does it do what it should?) Then...personal experience. Photos can help but I have always hated reviews that just add photos for now reason...it's like spamogram. Here's the toy on my bed, with a cool filter, next to my hand, next to my cat, etc. Just stop. If it adds to the info already provided, I welcome it

Same thing with videos. For the most part, I'm not super interested in listening to you talk about a toy, but if the toy does some awesome stuff that is best visually shown, I'd love to see it.

I like the extended format for the most part, but some sections could be removed or combined. Experience and personal comments are the same thing to me. Care and material could be combined in a way. I often find that I repeat some material there.

I think the expectations for review content has laxed. I am happy about this. I don't think a 1000 word review is necessary for most toys. The competitiveness has gone away and I'd like to see more people just having fun writing reviews rather than worrying about including every possible thing someone might have in their review or covering every question. I LOVE to write. It's easy for me to write lengthy reviews, but that doesn't mean I expect it from everyone. I'd rather see shorter non-repetitive reviews than ones that are just filled with fluff and images.

This is a good idea. That way the info is RIGHT there but we could add on it if we like. not all silicones or TPRs are created equal

Have you ever noticed that there is a size to scale link below pics where you can adjust it against the size of a credit card? This is incredibly accurate in my opinion.

I have tried the scale a few times here and on other sites. Doesn't do it for me. I do look all over the net and read other reviews often before making a expensive purchase.

I will say the scaled image is one of the coolest features, even thought it's not available for all toys; however, I think many of us struggle to put digital representations into real world size even if it's sized accurately on the screen without some context. Why photos with the toy next to objects we intuitively grasp the size of allows us to more accurately understand the actual size of the toy.

I think one facet I wish existed was the ability to revise/edit a review... lets say initially a feature/aspect wasn't properly identified and discovered after published, would be nice to be able to go back and properly expand/fix the review with the missing info. Instead of having to leave these revisions in a comment or follow up review.

I def would like to see an edit capability. And have it labeled edited and republished on the front review page as an edit. Otherwise nobody would really know. Only someone visiting the review in the future would know. Some other forums have an edit and also marks how many times the op edited it.

I believe you can edit a review (or used to be able to) for a certain period of time, 2 weeks? It isn't long enough if it still is a feature. I hear you!

Before I started commenting in here and doing reviews, each review was helpful to me. There would usually be someone who really liked it, but the next one wouldn't.

I would only buy a toy if 2 or more liked it.

Every person has their own way of choosing a toy, so I say we continue as usual with more than one.

Yeah its a very short period of time currently. I'm not sure if we really need the 30 day follow up as an extra section, but still having a reminder to go back and edit/touch up the review after a period of time has passed would be nice if you began allowing infinite time on edits.

Everybody has their own opinion or reviewers. Some say I'm tmi, some say I'm long-winded, some say I'm lousy. And some courteous people say I'm ok.

I'll be the first to admit I don't have writing skills.

My dears, you shared a lot of suggestions with me!

So I've prepared a draft of the new review template according your suggestions and our own ideas. Please let me know what do you think about that.

First of all, we've decided to make the template shorter and more personal. Here are the main sections to be included:

Title.

How would you name your review? Be creative and try to keep it down to 5 words.

Your first Impression/Encounter.

So you’ve got the package, opened the box… What were your thoughts when you saw and touched your toy for the first time?

Your first Use.

You’ve decided to try your toy out. How was it? Was it a solo-session or did you explore it with a partner? Where did it happen: bedroom/shower/tub/kit chen/somewhere else? What position did you choose? Did you like your first experience? If yes, can you describe why? If no, what kept you from getting your big ‘O’?

Further Experience.

First impressions can be deceiving, so let us know if your experience with the toy changed after you had some more playtime with it. Did you like the functions? Have they all worked for you? How was the texture? Did it add anything extra to the stimulation? What did you think about the size? Finally, did you add anything for super ‘O-o-o’some experience (another toy, lubes, lingerie, etc.)?

Vibration Map

Pick and drop the corresponding intensity marker to the spot of the toy where the vibrations spread, where you feel them strongest, a bit weaker and so on. Did you try using different parts of the toy for different type of stimulation?

Finally, did it deliver O’s?

How strong was your O? In your opinion, what is the best way to use this toy? Do you have any tips?

+ pics for orgasm level that show the number of O’s: 1 ‘O’, 2 O’s’, three O’s.
Let it be the so-called Pleasure Meter

There will be 3 types of intensity:

* A small ‘O’, barely there
* Not bad, I experienced my regular orgasm.
* WOooWW! It was a mind-blowing orgasm!

Pros and Cons.

Share your final thoughts about the toy. What do you think are its strong features? Anything you didn’t care for too much?

UPD: We'll also leave the bees/vrooms section and possibility to add photos/videos (for extra points )

As I already said, it was a very difficult choice. There were so many stunning ideas in this discussion!

And this time I've decided to give the prize to our DancerKittyKat. Congratulations!

@DancerKittyKat!! But new format definitely looks useful, I hope it'll integrate dynamic editing that auto saves progress as we write our reviews. And possibly ability to edit after published.

Oh thank you! The new template looks great! I like the focus on user experience.

I also really like the vibration map! I wonder if there will be any way to compare the vibration map marking of different users (composite vibration map). Or if others think that would be useful?

I think the orgasm meter is a very cute idea, however it might be worth broadening that to, "how did you use the toy to receive the most pleasure?" Orgasms can be complicated. For me, I can only orgasm when I have clitoral stimulation. So, if I'm reviewing an anal toy, I could tell you in what positions and in what ways I used the toy to receive the most pleasure, but I wouldn't orgasm with an anal toy without added clitoral stimulation.

Composite average vibration map from crowd sourced user reviews would be an interesting feature... I feel like the complexity of implementation would make it more difficult but still could see the benefit.

And you could possibly see it as how much did the toy enhance your orgasm/experience? Similarly I can't orgasm from prostate/anal play on it's own... so those toys wouldn't actually be good for an orgasm scale; however, if you combine it with bringing myself to orgasm during masturbation of my penis while using the toys... then the orgasm intensity can sky rocket compared to without the toy (depending on which one). So could still rate the orgasm intensity but would have to qualify it in the written part along with the "pleasure scale" rating.

I'm not saying to only allow one review, but I usually only read one or two if I find good reviews on the same toy. I find too many not well written reviews, making it that I have to read more of them to get all the information I want, which is time consuming.

I think that the "Further Experience" might be best suited as the followup review after say 30 days. As we all usually like to try and test, poke, prod and get our reviews submitted before we actually get to the 'further experience' part.

Though I am not sure of the average turnaround time for a review is from product received/delivered to review written. Personally I usually get to the followup testing afterward and submit any new likes/dislikes at that time.

Now would the new template be an additional third choice? Or a complete replacement? As for those items that are non-vibrating and sometimes non-orgasm producing on their own, such as lingerie and toy cleaners.

Maybe keep a 'Personal Experience' section, and move the 'Further Experience' to followup? Would help cover items/toys that don't produce O's.

Actually, we're still working on the final version of the new review template.

Of course, it will be used only for sex toys (and there will still be a separate template for lingerie). I've got your point regarding the 'Further Experience' section. We'll see what we can do with that.

As for O's section, it is not made just for describing the effect of the toy used separately. Many of us use toys to tease, or during the intercourse, or in the end to get that screaming O. So, in this specific section you'll be able to write whether the toy affected the intensity of your climax, or not. And of your answer is 'Yes', you'll be able to choose the level of intensity

Also, don't forget that you have 1 month to review the toy and write your honest opinion about it. Isn't it enough to get a comprehensive idea of the toy?
