Trying to get my rank up. Any advice?

Contributor: Janene Janene
I would like to get to at least 5.2, so I am eligible for mentor, tasks, etc.

They just raised it to 6 to be a mentor, so I am trying to get there. I've been stuck for a while. Anyone have any good ideas? I do my reviews, I've published an article, I post a bit on the forums.

HELP!

Please and thank you!

Also, my role now says writer, but I was given advanced reviewer a while back, so I'm confused.

You should submit a support ticket about your changed status from advanced reviewer to writer, as it may have been a issue that came with the current site changes.
Have you taken the mentor program yourself? As it automatically changed your status to advanced reviewer once you complete the program.
It seems you've completed a lot of reviews in a short amount of time, only two of which are voted as being "extremely useful." I would work on putting more work and detail into reviews and really strive to make every review "extremely useful" before submission. Joining a mentor program can really help you improve your writing and make sure that every review you write in the future will become useful-extremely useful.
Hope that helps some!

About the 'writer' thing, please read over this post:

About the ranking:

Don't think about it! If you write a few more good reviews that get mainly EU votes and stay active on the forums you'll get there!

If you're having trouble with the EU vote thing, a mentor is a great option. They'll help you figure out what information you're missing and such, which will help you write better reviews, get better votes, and increase your rank.

I have done the mentor program and graduated.

I can't figure out what people want in the reviews. The ones I spent the most amount of time on didn't get the EU. So I made them less long, because I thought maybe I was putting people to sleep and it's not helping either.

I did the mentor program. They graduated me.

I have done an article, so I can understand the write part, but I see people with two roles. I don't show advanced reviewer, and that's what I had before. Wondering why both don't show.

Write reviews that are as detailed as possible in order to get the higher votes.
Participation is the biggest thing. Be active in the forum. Check out posts from other people that sound interesting and add in your thoughts! It takes a while to get up there, I know!

Zombirella has some great advice. Make sure to have as many product details, sometimes the manufacture details dont always mach up with the toy itself. Also make your reviews personal, write specifically on what you like and dont like about the toy and it's uses. I like to check out a lot of reviews that are well written and received high ratings and try and apply that to my own review, i always suggest this to users as well as i know it has vastly improved my reviews and overall rank.
Take time, and dont focus worrying about the time it takes/ranking up, just focus on improving your reviews as best as possible. i'm sure you'll get there soon!

Does anyone know how rank ends up getting lowered? I could've sworn mine was a little bit higher a month ago.

Here's the ranking breakdown.

You're compared with everyone else on EF, so your rank being lowered means a drop in your activity compared with everyone else on the site.

This. If everyone else happens to be more active and you're a little slow, you could drop.

Everything you do on Eden counts toward your rank. The best thing for you to do is write reviews that are extremely useful. That will help you with your rank. Posting more on the forum may also help.

Every person wants something different in a review. Your goal is write an honest, well thought out review and let people vote on it. You can't please everyone.

Wow, I had no idea that my activity on the forums also affected my ranking!

I haven't been doing it as often because I haven't had that much of a need for points (since I can only use so many of them on an order)

Has there been any more changes in the way that your ranking is decided?

Great post! I wonder what qualifies a review as an 'honest, well thought out,' considering that everyone wants something different in a review.

I think being as thorough as possible and including your personal experience with the toy is probably what could be considered honest & well thought out. At least that's the approach I'm taking for all my reviews

I'm thinking about going to my old free-form review method. That seemed to get better feedback for me, because I was able to add what I felt was relevant instead of feeling confined to a laid out plan...

Do you think including pictures or videos for products helps readers more, as well?

I think if you maintain your current level of activity and interactions , it will go up. Before you know it, be in the 8's & 9's.

I think it varies with each person as to what they consider extremely useful.
Write as thorough as you can to give plenty of information and, having done your best, forget about it.
