How long do you keep your silicone toys?

Contributor: julia. julia.
I take good care of my toys-- as long as it keeps working and stays clean, I'll keep it!

I think the expiration issue on menstrual cups is due to the little holes in them...try as we might it's likely they will eventually catch bacteria!

My old one also discolored over time, so even though it was probably okay, I did want to replace it!

I have not gotten rid of any of my toys because I only have 2 and I recently got them.

We're told silicone toys will last a lifetime if taken care of properly.

My first toy was silicone, that was about 4 years ago. I still have it and still is just as nice as the day I bought it.

I wouldn't throw any of mine away unless they looked really wrecked and hard to clean.
I suspect the reason menstrual cups get replaced more often is due to discoloration.

Forever or as long as they last. I have had the same toys for years. Just take care of them well.

Heh, I see no reason why I wouldn't say "forever"! As long as you take good care of your silicone toys (avoid silicone lubes, etc.) I see no reason why they wouldn't last for an indefinite amount of time. My oldest Tantus dildo is probably around 5 years old now, and it still looks brand new.

I plan on keeping my silicone toys for as long as they're useable. If they were going to somehow sustain damage, I'd be forced to toss.

With proper care, we expect our silicone dildos to last the rest of our lives.
We expect our silicone vibrators will eventually go bad. Either the motors will wear out or the switches will malfuction due to use.
The toys will built in rechargeable batteries will be the first to go. The batteries will reach the point where they just quit holding a charge. We will discard them at that point.
