Nuvaring and rough play

Contributor: Darling Dove Darling Dove
So lately, when I've been even slightly rough and my nuvaring is in, I get sore and feel like theres a scratch or something down there (usually very noticable depending on the lube I'm using) and there's a little bit of blood when I check. I dont think it's spotting, since that'd happen regardless of play (and its too bright red for that anyways), but has this happened to anyone else? It is mostly with harder toys, plastic, or hard silicone like tantus stuff or the Ella. My theory is that the toys cause the nuvaring to pinch or something, and it makes small scratches. I'm not typically sore a day later, so they heal up quickly..

But if this only happens with hard toys and rough play, and it never happened before I had nuvaring.. is the nuvaring the cause? does this happen with anyone else? Do you just ignore it, or take the nuvaring out every time you play?

Just wondering..

Insightful topic debates on Cock rings:

The new Mio pleasure ring
Do you think it will turn out that it is as strong as the Lelo Tor, or maybe even stronger?

Men wearing makeup
What are your opinions on it? I know some guys who do the full eyeliner/shadow/founda tion/blush thing, and there are some guys who use some coverup...

Do you ever get ringing in your ears?
Just wondering how common it is for folks on EF to experience tinnitus, or ringing in the ears.

Ladies, do you wear rings on both of your middle fingers?
I usually just wear a ring on my ring finger (on my right hand as I'm not married). I just think it would look OTT if I wore rings on both my ring...

I don't have any experience with the Nuvaring, but I know my cervix is sensitive and is easily irritated. Maybe it's as simple as what you mentioned, the ring is just irritating your cervix with repeated contact? Still, the blood is kind of concerning.

The blood makes me think that you'd be wise to visit a GYN to make sure there is no more serious underlying problem causing you to bleed.

It depends, remove it and look at the seam. If it has a rough edge it could be that. I had NuvaRing and HATED it. I had nothing but issues with the stupid thing getting in the way.

I feel irritation sometimes with thrusting whether during sex or w/ toys, so now I usually take it out when I want to play. My junk is much happier. ^_^

I just went a month or two ago, it's always been fine. They do the... scrape and stuff. This scratch doesn't hurt nearly as much as that..
I will mention it to the GYN next time if it continues, but uh
I'm not too psyched to go back. You get the full exam regardless of the purpose of your visit pretty much.

@J and Rockin
Hmmm, never noticed a seam but.. it is a very small scratch.

It always goes away within that day.. could it really be something serious? I can't get an IUD because I haven't had a child yet, so changing from my nuvaring isn't much of an option...

First of all, you CAN get an IUD. I've never had a kid and I had an IUD.

The ring can bunch up sometimes and may pinch. But it is safe to remove it up to 3 hours per day, so if it hurts when you play with your toys, take it out. It does have a seam if you look closely, but it's a smooth seam, not like a ponytail holder or anything.

I've had a similar probably recently. I'm not sure if its safe to interrupt the hormone flow that often though.

i've never had that pinching problem but I have a question about removing it. if you remove it, do you have to keep it in a place that's a certain temperature?
