I wear a menstrual cup, and forget it for a couple days pretty much every month. Never caused any problems, though. Back when I used tampons I'd often forget to take them out to masturbate vaginally

Ever since then I have been really aware of them and use pads mainly. It was really scary for me because I actually do know someone who lost their child to tss due to tampon use.

I cursed a few nasty words because I knew I would have to put my hand down in the toilet water that I had just peed in, in order to retrieve them. Not so far....I have used tampons over night with no issues. My OBGYN told me that sa long as its not more than 10-12 hours or a super heavy flow, there is a slim to no chance of TSS...so far so good. I usually get my fingers in there and "clean house" on a daily basis, like in the shower. Its a good practice to feel for abnormalities or lumps, just like the boobs

Ew, yeah. The ONE time I was too horny to wait out my period, I started to masturbate and halfway through I felt a huge pressure all of a sudden, and my tampon was working its way out around my toy.
