The Tristan is the first in a series of 3 sizes of butt plugs by Vixen Creations. It is the smallest of the three, but don't let that fool you when considering the size of this toy. Tristan is not for the first time plug user. This is a better option for beginners who have had a plug an are looking for intermediate plugs or an anal player who wants something that can be inserted easier but still have some level of "fullness." Tristan is very versatile and can be used and enjoyed regardless of gender or orientation.

Tristan can be sterilized, making it an option for multiple uses, sharing, and even group play (with sterilizing between uses, of course). It can be inserted vaginally if desired, but there are better toys for that. It is safe for anal play because it has a flared base. The flared base also means it can be inserted and enjoyed hands free. It can be worn by men while penetrating a partner for added stimulation.

Tristan is a great option for those who live in dorms or with others since this toy makes no sound. It can also be brought into the shower if you wanted (use plenty of water based lube and stay away from the line of shower water, though). This can also be an option for those who like to wear plugs in public since this one is fairly comfortable for periods of time.

Tristan is made from pure, luxurious silicone. Silicone ranks a 10 out of 10 on the materials scale. It is non porous, so bacteria cannot thrive inside the toy. It can also easily be sterilized between uses or users. Silicone is also hypoallergenic.



You might be wondering how Tristan compares to other Vixen plugs and the other Tristans in the line. I chose the purple one. I wish the Tristan came in the same blue as the 1.5. Regardless, it's not just a plain purple. In the light you can see a sparkly silver sheen in the toy as well as other purple hues. I don't find Tristan as brilliant in looks as the 1.5, but it is still pretty for a butt plug. The silicone is smooth with some drag, so don't be afraid to lube up with something water based. The textures from the plug come from shape. Still, this plug is more for intermediate players.



Tristan is flexible; it might annoy some. It is not extremely floppy, but it can bend and slide out of the way on occasion, especially when things are slippery. It does support itself, so if you turn it to the side it wont just flop over like a slab of meat. Given other good qualities of the toy, this should not be a factor that keeps you from buying the toy.

Tristan is bold and honest; there is no denying what it is. Tristan is on the shorter end coming in at 3.5 inches long with an insertable length of 3.25 inches. The length is not as intimidating as the width of this plug, which clocks in at 4.75 inches. For reference, the average width of the traditional sex toy is around 4.5 inches (then again, a vagina is a different organ all together). Tristan is not very realistic, but it does have a bulbous head reminiscent of a circumcised penis.

Use plenty of water based lubricant. Honestly, there is no such thing as too much lubricant when it comes to anal play. Apply generously to both the plu and the anal entrance using fingers or a smaller toy. You may need to use fingers or a smaller toy for warm up, which is just okay.

The most important aspect of all: how does this plug hold up? Tristan's shape seems to help keep the plug in place. The flared base is also quite ergonomic. The pinched in oblong shape allows it to rest comfortably between the cheeks and lets you sit down without discomfort. While anal toys should not be worn for very long periods of time, Tristan can be worn during a play session comfortably.

Tristan's head shape is a bit unique. It has a head somewhat similar to a circumcised penis, but tapered. The bottom of the head is the widest point of the toy. After that, you'll encounter the thinner, yet still notable shaft/stem of the toy. Be warned: once the head passes the second, involuntary sphincter, the toy will naturally slide in. This might be too fast for some users. To guard against this, hold the toy above the base with your finger around the shaft. In this way you can halt the toy from entering to fast.

Once it is comfortably in, you can engage in other activities. Tristan can be used in conjunction with other toys, vibes, and even a partner for some dual penetration. If inserting a toy vaginally, Tristan (like any other plug) could come out a bit. To prevent this, your partner can press on the plug during intercourse. This might be a feat for some to accomplish, so take time, warm up, and enjoy yourself.

Tristan does not have a typical shape for O-ring harnesses. It might work, but it's not the plug's intent.

Care for Tristan is easy. You can use soap and water, toy wipes or toy cleaner. You can boil it for 3 minutes to sterilize it or pop it in the top rack of the dishwasher if that's your forte. When cleaning, just make sure to take extra care around the head and right below it; this is where debris would collect. Once clean and dry, you can store Tristan in the orignal packaging or wrap it in a lint free cloth. Being silicone it will pick up lint and fuzz. It's est to wipe down the toy before use.

It's best to keep anal toys segregated from non-anal toys (call me paranoid. I do this even after sterilizing my toys). Also keep Tristan away from direct contact with rubber, TPR and jelly toys since they can degrade the luscious silicone coating. Only use water based lubricant with Tristan. I have heard of some people being able to use hybrid lubricants with no noticeable wear, but I wouldn't chance it.

Packaging for Tristan is pretty consistent with other ones in the line. The packaging is unique in that Tristan comes in a plastic cylinder that has red ends. Both ends can be removed. The top is relatively easy to remove. The air pressure in the container means you might have to press your thumb a bit into a cylinder to break the air seal. The plastic is clear so you can see the toy inside, which makes this toy far from discreet.



Inside the cylinder you'll see the toy and a yellowish piece of paper explaining the toy and safe use. The instructions are precise, but the blue paper also has a link for more information. The cylinder can be used as continuous storage; it can keep the toy separate from others and give it a dedicated space in your toy box.

I have owned quite a few anal toys (Eden seems to make me the anal toy user here, but I'm not complaining!) in my time. The Tristan toys are unique with their head shape and overall style. My first Vixen plug was the Tristan 1.5 with bullet. I enjoyed the plug, but it's a bit too big for me to comfortably use. For my ideal, I wanted a plug that stays in and doesn't need much warm up to go in but still leave me with a full feeling. The Tristan seems to do that well for me.
