Prostate massager discontinued
by Aneros

Another iteration from Aneros

Not drastically different, the main distinction for this toy is that it's a silicone coated Aneros. The silicone coating is a double edged sword: it is more yielding than metal, glass, or plastic, so it will not deliver as much pressure as those materials. Unfortunately, I can't say that this product gave me the amazing payoff that everyone else seems to experience. Maybe it's just my anatomy but I feel like I must not be alone.

Use

This toy is very fun for sex. It's comfortable, provides a little extra "oomph" to the male orgasm, and stays put very well. It's not really a thrusting toy, intended instead for hands free, battery free prostate stimulation to deliver extended multiple male orgasms...but I have not gotten there yet. Always use water based lube, but don't get it on the perineum ball, too much movement from side to side could be painful.

Material / Texture

The matte silicone coating on the perineum ball and the main body feel very soft. The silicone seems to drag slightly on insertion but feels pretty good once it is in, and the silicone on the perineum ball seems to hold it in place very well, rather than allowing it to shift from side to side. There is a line in the silicone that is barely visible but imperceptible when inserted. Don't use a silicone lube with this toy as it can deteriorate the silicone in the toy.

Design / Shape / Size

The Helix Syn was created by slight customization and coating silicone over a skeleton of the Helix, which was itself created based on user feedback from the original. Serious design seems to have gone into this massager and it looks different when compared to the original MGX for instance, with a more "aggressive" tip that is designed to press more intensely on the prostate.

The max width is slightly more than the MGX at 1 1/16 inch but the insertable length is the same 4 inches.

The ball on the perineum tab is a slightly different feel and look. The Helix Syn looks kind of delicate with the thin pieces of plastic leading to the perineum tab and handle, but feels fairly sturdy. It looks more aggressive than the earlier models such as the MGX, but it has not provided the same level of stimulation for me. Small size makes it very travel friendly and good for beginners, although it can be a little bit difficult to insert with no warm up.

Performance

The Helix Syn was surprisingly subtle during use. As I mentioned above, it looks like it would be more agressive on the prostate but at least so far has not produced as much stimulation as the MGX. For couples play, this is great in that it stays put and amplifies rather than distracts from the "main event," either sex or masturbation.

Care and Maintenance

The mixed materials mean you can't boil or bleach the Helix Syn, but mild soap and water will remove any odors and residue. The silicone cleans up great, and is black so there's no incriminating color changes.

Packaging

Beautifully packaged, the Helix Syn packaging conveys the same sophistication I would expect from the premier prostate massager manufacturer. Mine came in a cardboard covering around a cardboard box wrapped around a plastic mold for the Helix. Minimal instructions are included, but information is readily available online.

Personal comments

After trying the MGX, I wanted to treat myself to the luxurious and more highly rated Helix Syn. I was really excited for this toy and looking forward to finally reaching the "super-orgasm" referred to on all the Aneros user forums. I haven't gotten there yet but definitely want to keep trying, I think this will hold up well, it doesn't shift during sex or masturbation in the few positions we've tried so far. I wish I had tried this one first, as it is more comfortable while inserted, but it is also slightly more difficult to insert due to the shape.

Experience

My wife and I have used this for sex in a perpendicular position: her on her back, me on my side with one leg under and one leg over one of her legs. We look sort of like an X, but it is very comfortable and allows for both of us to play with ourselves and each other. The Helix Syn felt good on me and did not shift around too much but the position does not allow for vigorous thrusting, so we will have to see with a few other positions. She said that she noticed a little more intensity in my reactions and I definitely felt a stronger orgasm.

In solo play I have not found the Syn to be as satisfying as the MGX, either with or without playing with the penis.

Thanks for the review. Every anatomy is different. I didn't care for the MGX, but liked the Helix. These are just hit or miss, literally.

Maybe the Helix would have been better because it was rigid. I know silicone is safer but it didn't have the same satisfying feel of the hard plastic. Then again, maybe I just haven't given it enough time, I'm still learning.
