The Gumdrop anal plug in orange is an excellent selection for those beginning anal play! This Crystalessence anal toy has rippling curves that make arousing sensations that much more enjoyable and unique. Sure, you could start with a smaller slimline plug, but this anal toy is just the right size to feel and enjoy!! As a first time user of an anal plug I am VERY pleased! This toy will be used again and again.

The Gumdrop anal plug is designed to be inserted into the anus during vaginal toy use, during sex or simply on its own for enjoyable arousing sensations. Mild thrusting can be done with this anal plug, however many health experts recommend going easy or avoiding too much anal thrusting all together. The anus does not naturally lubricate the way the vagina does during intercourse, so plenty of a water-based or silicone-based lubricant is recommended. Vigorous thrusting with this toy could result in bleeding and tears or damage to the walls and tissue of the anus and increases the risk of infection. Vigorous thrusting may also weaken the sphincter muscles of the anal canal which can result in difficulty controlling bowl movements or incontinence in rare cases. Using a condom with anal toys and during anal sex allows for a smoother, safer experience with less risk of infection to you and your partner.

After taking the proper precautions, anal play can be a very unique and rewarding experience, and having the right toy does much to help ensure the introduction to anal play goes as hoped for. I personally do not recommend a larger toy than the Gumdrop as a beginner anal plug. I think the size of this plug is just right, even if there is a bit more girth than other slimmer beginner anal plugs. I truly think though that many women will enjoy the unique gumdrop shape of this toy!

The Gumdrop anal plug is made of a jelly material known as Crystalessence. It has a safety rating of 2 and is composed of various chemicals including PVC. The jelly material does make this plug a lint magnet, and the toy cannot be sterilized, however it can be washed with most toy cleaners and mild soap and water. Harsher soap or alcohol-based cleaners may cause damage to the Gumdrop plug, though I confess to trying this from time to time on my personal collection, to ensure my toys are clean upon arrival. To protect yourself during anal play, you may also use a condom over the plug.

I also wanted to mention that I did notice a fairly strong rubbery, chemical smell upon opening the plastic packaging for this toy. So far, washing has not totally removed the odor, but I do not find it too overpowering to discontinue using the anal plug. If you are more sensitive to odors, you may wish to avoid this toy. I expect it may lessen over time, but that has yet to be determined.

The one positive aspect of jelly toys is that they are flexible and soft. This toy is quite flexible and will mold to your anal canal and movements. You do not have to worry about any pointy hard edges giving you a nightmare first time experience!

The shape of this anal plug is FABULOUS!! I cannot say enough about the round gumdrop shape and curvy ridges! You can insert this toy half way or fully into the anus and if you are a beginner, simply inserting it may give you a pleasurable experience after the initial adjustment. During my first time using this anal plug, I did not experience any serious level of discomfort. I did notice some mild stinging, but this dissipated after a little while during the same initial session. You may expect some mild soreness after use if this is your first time inserting an anal plug.

The wide base at the bottom of the plug serves as a suction cup for those interested in gentle thrusting with this toy. The wide base also helps ensure that your toy is retrievable. Yes, there are horror stories out there of inappropriate toys and objects being inserted into the anus, being pushed too far up and then becoming irretrievable!! The Gumdrop anal plug also does have a bit more girth than many beginner anal plugs, but I personally found the size to be quite pleasurable. The insertable portion has a circumference of 3 1/2 inches and a diameter of 1 1/8 inches. It measures about 5 inches in length with 4 inches of this being insertable. The Gumdrop's size is adequate preparation for larger anal toys and for a penis if you want to work up to anal sex.

I think this anal plug will hold up well for long-term anal play. Yes, the material is not the best or most hygienic, but for the very affordable price it makes sense. This plug is perfect simply as an anal plug during intimacy or vaginal penetration. Mild thrusting with this toy may be pleasurable or slightly painful for a beginner so please start slowly if you are concerned. Using a generous amount of lubricant and a condom over the Gumdrop may minimize any discomfort experienced.

I have tested out the suction cup on the plug. I do not plan to use this feature of the toy, but I have tested the strength of the suction cup on a counter top and shower wall and it seems to hold fast and be durable. Other reviewers that have had this toy for a longer time may be able to report more on the longevity of strength in the suction base.

Since the Gumdrop anal plug is made of Crystalessence jelly, it is recommended that you avoid harsher soaps and alcohol-based cleansing products as these may cause deterioration to the toy. A mild soap or toy cleaning product will have your Gumdrop squeaky clean and ready for action. Lint and dust particles are easily removed with a quick water rinse. To avoid lint and dust, store in a cool, dry area away from fabrics. Your Gumdrop anal plug may be enjoyed with any water, oil or silicone-based lubricant!
