The Risque Intense is a great multi-purpose toy. It is intended as a butt plug, with vibrations ranging from less intense to more intense, and various vibration patterns. Although its length is within the norm for butt plugs, it's a thick toy. So, it could also be used effectively as a vaginal vibrator, either for teasing, or for sitting and rocking on it (although the functions change when you do this, which can be good or bad).



For anal use... It resembled my husband's thickness, so I'm used to the size and I thought it was wonderful. However, when it was my husband's turn, he was a little intimidated by its diameter. This led to some nice teasing, inserting it just past the smaller bulge. In the end, he was eager for the entire length and didn't regret it.

It's a good toy to use by yourself, too, although the control button is impossible to reach when also using a rabbit vibe vaginally. I think that men especially would like it for use during masturbation, and the button would be less likely to get hit by mistake in a situation like that.

It has a large, safe base, so it can be used hands-free with no fear of mishaps. The size of the base does feel a little bit too large when the plug is inserted, but neither of us felt that it was uncomfortable. However, it probably wouldn't be very comfortable to walk around in or wear for extended periods of time.

The Risque Intense is made from food-grade silicone material, which is hypoallergenic, non-porous, and pthalates-free. It's a very safe material, rating a 10 on the Edenfantasys.com safety scale. It has no noticeable smell.

It's very firm, with just a little give if you squeeze it very hard. At the bottom, just above the base, it is rigid and doesn't bend at all. At the top where it narrows under the first bulge, it bends very slightly with pressure, but in use it doesn't seem to give or bend at all. The silicone exterior is smooth and velvety. It has a little drag to it. You will want to use a nice water-based lube, both because of the drag and its size (never use silicone lube with silicone toys). The firmness and rigidity help put pressure on those nice spots that feel so good.

It is a lint magnet! I found it difficult to even take pictures without it gathering lint. Thanks, Eden Toy and Body (...and Toy Photography!) Wipes - I couldn't have done it without you!

I noticed no odor at all with this product.

The Risque Intense is the thickest butt plug I've personally used, although there are many out there that are larger! Its diameter at the bottom bulge, the largest, is 5 inches. The firmness and thickness make for a really lovely full feeling when it's inside. With this inserted anally and my husband inside me vaginally, I felt like I couldn't be more full. When I came like that, it was really intense.

The toy is 5 inches long from bottom to top, with an insertable length of a little over 3 1/2 inches.




The base is about 3 inches from end to end, about 2 inches from side to side, and a little over an inch from top to bottom. So, it's quite large to have in place while the toy is inserted.



The shape of the toy, with its two different-sized bulges, makes it perfect for just about anyone. Beginners can work their way up, inserting it just past the first bulge, testing out the different vibrations (although this would be too shallow to give any P-spot stimulation). Advanced users who like that full feeling will surely be satisfied with the toy fully inserted. It does not have any bend to help it find that P-spot even when fully inserted, but it can be manipulated by using your hand on the base.

If you want to keep it in place just past the first bulge, you will need to hold it there to keep it from coming out. Once it's inserted all the way, it stays in place nicely. The part above the base, where it narrows to fit the entrance to the anus, is a little over 3 1/2 inches around, which is a comfortable size.

The Risque Intense is controlled by one button in the center of its base. This is somewhat inconvenient, and this toy would be much improved if it had a wireless remote version, especially one with a display. Its different patterns of vibration are complicated, and I would have appreciated a visual description of each. This would have helped me to figure out where I was in the rotation, especially in the heat of the moment.

To turn it on, you push and hold the button for a second. Then, you change between the vibration modes by a push of the button (when using the toy, it is easy to change the mode unexpectedly by pushing the button by mistake). To turn it off, push and hold the button. The toy has no memory, so it always starts out on the first mode when you turn it on. The ten different functions are really varied. For us, though, there didn't seem to be an obvious difference in the more complicated functions when the toy was inserted. The vibes vary from more rumbly to buzzy, depending on where it is in each function. The vibrations are medium to high intensity in power. The modes of vibration are:

1. Low vibe, sort of rumbly
2. Higher vibe, sort of rumbly
3. High vibe, buzzy
4. High long pulses, buzzy
5. Lower fast pulses, slightly rumbly
6. Lowest fast pulses, slightly rumbly
7. Medium fast high and low vibes
8. Long stretches of low, medium, high vibes
9. Fast high vibes alternating with low/high vibe combos
10. Pattern of long high vibes, then pattern of low/high vibes

The Risque Intense is powered by two AAA batteries. The battery compartment is opened by sliding off the bottom part of the base. There is a ribbon attached to help remove the batteries, and because of its proximity to the electrical connectors, the ribbon can get in the way of them and keep the toy from turning on. So, if you just put batteries in and it won't turn on, open the compartment and check to see where the ribbon is. This has happened to me several times, and I will probably cut the ribbon shorter. The batteries are reasonably easy to remove without the ribbon.




This toy is advertised as being waterproof. I did submerge it and no water got in; however, I'm not convinced that that will continue. There is a thin silicone seal around the edge of the entire battery compartment, but it doesn't look to me like it will keep water out over the long term. Also, when the compartment is closed, there are a couple of little spaces where the cover fits less tightly, which seem like they might become problem spots in the future.

The Risque Intense is fairly quiet; it's noticeable in the same room, but probably not through a closed door. I would rate it at 2 1/2 bees. I'm choosing 3 bees, although it's probably not quite a "3".

To clean this toy, use soap and water, or a toy cleaner. It should be used only with non-silicone lubes, and store it away from other toys in a bag or box.

This toy comes in a standard Cal Exotics box. It's made of recyclable clear plastic, and it's not sturdy enough to use for long-term storage. It comes with a simple instruction sheet on how to put the batteries in.

We had fun testing this toy. It will definitely be in our toybox, rather than confined to our closet with the least favorite toys ("Closet of the Misfit Toys"). We still haven't figured out our favorite vibration mode, and the variety makes it nice, no matter what our mood is. I recommend it for sure!
