Simple Pleasures

The X-10 Beads are a great set of anal beads for someone wanting to try out anal play without investing a lot of money. They're a traditional set of anal beads that does what anal beads should do: provides interesting, textured sensations during insertion and wearing and makes orgasm mind-blowingly intense when they're pulled out during climax.

Use

The X-10 Beads are anal beads, designed to be inserted anally and then removed during climax to increase the intensity of orgasm. They start with two tiny beads, about 1/4 inch diameter, that pop in easily, then work their way up to two final beads that are 1 inch in diameter. These beads would not work for vaginal insertion, due to their length, 10.5 inches insertable, and the tiny girth of the beads closer to the tip wouldn't provide a lot of vaginal stimulation anyways. Since these beads are made of jelly, which is not sanitizable, they are not meant to be shared between orifices or partners, unless you use a condom with them. They have a ring-shaped handle for removal that is easy to grip with slippery fingers and does not get in the way of enjoying vaginal intercourse or vaginal play with toys while using these beads. The string of beads is too flexible to be used for thrusting, but it is firm enough to be inserted easily.

Material / Texture

The material used for this toy is jelly, which has a safety rating of 2. Jelly is porous, and it can harbor germs. It is not sanitizable and should not be shared between orifices or partners without condoms. It can be shared with condoms, although the length of this toy is too long for most condoms.

The jelly material feels very firm, with no give at all, but it's very flexible. This combination worked great for me; I could definitely feel the beads inside me at all times, but they flexed to fit my body comfortably during use. They were firm enough to insert easily. The surface feels slick and slides in smoothly with lube. They have a faint odor that was only detectable if I held them right up to my nose, and no taste. There is a faint seam, noticeable to the eye, but I didn't feel it when the toy was inserted.

I got these in purple (they also come in pink, purple, and black), and I was surprised by how pretty they were. When held up to the light, they glow this beautiful, luminescent purple. I tried to capture that in my photos:

    • Bumpy
    • Flexible
    • Light odor

Design / Shape / Size

There are eight beads in all, in order from the tip: two 1/4 inch beads, two 1/2 inch beads, two 3/4 inch beads, two 1 inch beads. While I'm a novice to anal play, I still found myself wishing that these had more girth the first time I used them. These beads are perfect for beginners, with their easy insertion and small girth. They are traditional, ball-shaped beads. There's about half an inch of stem between each bead, and the beads connect to the stem at almost a right angle, making each bead really pop when they're inserted or pulled out. The insertable length of the whole toy is 10 3/4 inches; some say this is a little long, but it worked just fine for me. The handle is ring-shaped. Though it looks thin, it doesn't stretch or look like it's going to break when it's tugged on. Some users expressed concern that the ring would get swallowed by their butt during play; I didn't have this problem at all, but I think the ring would be fairly easy to extract if that did happen. I don't think my butt could swallow the handle; this toy is so long, there just isn't room for any more in my butt. This toy has no moving or breakable parts, so it can be traveled with, but if anyone sees it, they will know what it is.

Performance

This toy worked very well for what it was intended for. The design is pretty basic. The ball-shaped beads each provided a satisfying stretch-and-release as I pulled them out slowly, and the great, textured anal stimulation they provided intensified my orgasm and prolonged it.

They're comfortable to wear for several hours at a time, and the handle is small enough that you could do it discreetly. They don't make any noise, unless you count the blissful "Ohhhh!" you might be making each time you take a step and feel the beads rubbing and shifting inside of you.

These toys can be used with a partner, but they're also very easy to use during solo play. The beads' handle provides no obstacle to vaginal penetration, and it's easy to remove the beads yourself if you're using this toy during solo play. These beads gave me a lot of stimulation anally, and they also made my vagina feel tighter and kind of bumpy inside, which made using a dildo a little challenging but ultimately more pleasurable.

The only thing I don't like about this toy is that the material has a safety rating of 2. For that reason, I also tried the silicone version of these beads, and I do not recommend them at all. For more information, see my review.

Care and Maintenance

Jelly is compatible with both water and silicone-based lubes, so squirt away! The downside to this material is that it can't be sanitized. On edenfantasys' guide to materials, they suggest cleaning jelly toys with warm water and an antibacterial toy cleaner, and storing the toy in a cool, dark place. I keep this toy in its original packaging, but since that's a little bulky, I might switch to a plastic bag instead. You have to be careful when cleaning this toy of the crevices between bead and stem, but other than that it washes off fairly easily.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store
    • Not sanitizable

Packaging

The toy came in a clear plastic clamshell. The packaging depicted on the product page is very different from the packaging I got. Since I believe that a picture says a thousand words, I shall save myself some work and post one here:

As you can see, the packaging is not discreet. You will want to wrap this toy if gifting it. The package can be used for storage, but it's quite bulky and I recommend using a plastic bag instead.
    • Good for storage
    • Not discreet

Personal comments

I got this toy because I wanted some first-time anal beads, and these were inexpensive. They definitely did not disappoint me in terms of pleasure, but if you have the money, I recommend trying a toy made out of a safer material, such as the silicone version of these same beads.

I'm somewhat of a beginner to anal play, and I found the girth of these wanting. They still did what they were intended to do, and they did it well. These beads would be perfect for an absolute beginner who wanted to ease into the world of anal pleasure. More experienced anal players might want something bigger. But for the price, these can't be beat.
Follow-up commentary
Surprisingly, this is the set of anal beads that I like the most now out of the four pairs I've tried, and they were the cheapest. If you're not going to share your anal beads, then the material isn't really a problem, since you don't have to sanitize the beads to use them on yourself. The handle is really easy to use, and even as my butt has become used to larger objects, it's never been sucked in because it's pretty rigid. I will say that they are a bit long, and you might want to cut off the first two beads (the smallest ones) and sand that part down to make it smooth again. The first two beads can't be felt very much coming out anyways.

Another thing I noticed - I was storing these in a plastic bag, like a regular sandwich bag, and I noticed spots on the beads where they were wrinkled or flattened a little where they had been in contact with the plastic. I didn't know jelly could react to plastic, but the only other things they've come into contact with are a water-based lube and my ass. If I had kept the original packaging, I might have kept them in there instead. So if you do buy these, air-dry them thoroughly and then store them in the packaging or a cloth bag. I'm not sure if they might react with other toys, so to be on the safe, store them so they're not touching any other toys.

Other than that, these are a handy set of beads. After quite a bit of use, they're not showing any signs of wear aside from the storage issue mentioned about. For $6.99, you can't go wrong with these.

Excellent, very thorough review! I would probably pick up the silicone set.

The silicone set has their own set of cons. I haven't tried them yet, but other reviewers have had concerns about the handle breaking.

Great review but you're right it would be better to get the silicone beads. I'm still holding out hope EF will restock the bendy beads, I have my alerts set to get them the min. they do haha.

You mentioned there are 8 beads in all, but I counted 10. What are the measurement on those?

Other than that awesome review! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Oh gosh. There are ten beads. I have no idea how I made that mistake. I will edit that right away.

I am glad you like those anal beads. I been shopping for a great strand of anal beads. I decided against those because them being jelly and porous. Maybe I will give them a try now, since they are so cheap. Perhaps they will last me a while
