Sasha Grey signature plug small - butt plug by Doc Johnson - review by limb&joren

The Sasha Grey Small Signature plug is a small, borosilicate glass butt plug that is black in color. Borosilicate glass, more widely known as the Pyrex in your cookware or Gorilla Glass on your smartphone screen, is special glass that has boron oxide added to the usual silica in the glass making process. What this means for your sex toys is that they are incredibly shock resistant, and will resist both physical shock (dropping, etc.), and thermal shock (going from very hot/boiling to very cold temperatures shatters normal glass). This means that the glass used is much safer than regular glass and, when looking for your next pretty glass sex toy, always make sure it is made of borosilicate glass!

Science aside, this is an excellent plug. It has a 1.25" diameter head that is only slightly more pointed than rounded with little taper. Certain individuals may enjoy the plug as it "pops" in and out over the round head, versus the more gradual insertion of a more highly tapered plug. It makes a perfect second, more filling plug for someone who wants to move into anal play very slowly but has already tried a downright diminutive toy like the Doc Johnson Mood plug (in small or medium) or the Lil' Gumdrops line, also by Doc Johnson.

The toy has a good amount of heft, and it feels very sturdy and unyielding. I read in other reviews that this may be a bad idea for beginners because of the heft, but my wife and I are only beginning to experiment with anal and she greatly enjoyed the size and heft.

With respect to weight and also the design of the plug, it can be difficult to keep the plug in at times. While it never came out completely, if used while in any position other than doggy style (all girl on top positions, and even missionary was a no-go) the 1" diameter neck of the plug would slide out until only the head was keeping it in. While this wasn't bad, as the plug never actually came out, it still wasn't good as at that point there was only something about the size of a large gumball actually inside. That being said, it got a very good reaction when I would reach down and quickly push the retreating plug back into its proper position. Take from that experience what you will; if you want something that will stay locked into place for the duration of sex, I would look toward a silicone plug with a very narrow neck (as any type of glass with a super tiny neck would be prone to breaking). The 100% silicone Doc Johnson Mood Naughty medium or large plugs are very accessible in size (we owned the medium before this glass plug), affordable, and very enjoyable to use. This plug is an amazing beginners anal toy and I have a hunch that anyone who is past the stage of a finger or 2, especially if they have had anal sex, will find this plug too small. For us it was perfect.
