Tiny, Twisted Teaser

Though I adore the texture of this toy, this does not make up for the fact that the vibrations are extremely weak and that it is most definitely not safe for use as an anal probe, although the package describes that type of use. The Tenticle does nothing but tease and is anything but magical.

Use

Though the Tenticle Magic Twisty is described as an anal probe, I would not recommend using this toy anally simply because it does not have a flared base, and thus nothing is preventing it from being swallowed up. The best use for the Tenticle is as a teaser. This is definitely more of a beginner's toy because of its small size and is especially nice for those new to texture because of its multi-textured sleeve. The Tenticle can be used to stimulate the clitoris, labia, and perineum and even to shallowly penetrate the vagina. Anal penetration is not recommended, but this toy does feel quite nice when used externally on the sphincter. The Tenticle Magic Twisty is small and quiet enough to use just about anywhere and is even waterproof!

Material / Texture

The best quality of the Tenticle Magic Twisty is indeed its texture. The toy is made of silicone with the exception of the handle at the end, which is made of plastic. It is not an incredibly high grade of silicone, as you would find on luxury toys; so, it is a bit sticky, but not terribly so. Like all silicone toys, the Tenticle does not have a smell or odor and is non-porous. At the very tip of the toy, there are three short antennae that feel nice when flicked across the most sensitive areas, such as the clitoris and the nipples. Moving down the body of the vibrator, you will find a series of tiny nubs that spiral down the entire length of the toy. These provide extra stimulation, both when rubbed across the skin and when inserted. For someone who is fairly new to textured toys, I did not find this intimidating or uncomfortable at all and would recommend this for other beginners for the texture alone.
    • Bumpy
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The Tenticle Magic Twisty is 4 1/2 inches in insertable length and 1 1/2 inches in diameter at the very widest, and it is shaped like a tiny twisted tornado. The diameter of the Tenticle gradually increases, which is great for beginners, but it may not be enough girth for more advanced users. Though this toy has a very unique, science-fiction look to it, I do not think that it is discreet enough to be unrecognizable as a sex toy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Tenticle Magic Twisty functions more as a teaser than it does as a probe or vibrator. The vibrations are felt mostly at the base of the toy, though it feels more like a light flutter than it does anything else. It was impossible to get off with the vibrations alone, and even the texture was not enough to completely let go. In order to turn the toy on, the base twists off and one N battery is inserted. The base is then twisted back on, and once tightened all the way, the toy is turned on. The Tenticle only has one speed and does not have an on/off button. The bottom must be twisted on and off, and both hands must be used which makes it difficult to quickly turn on and off. On the plus side, the toy is quiet enough that it could be used with another person in the room without causing too much of a fuss as long as there was some other type of noise. It definitely cannot be heard on the other side of a closed door, even without any other form of noise. The product claims to be waterproof. I generally do not use my toys in the bathtub, but I did submerge it a few times, and it seemed to hold up without any problems. However, never turn the toy on and off when submerged, as this will break the seal and allow water to reach inside the battery hub.
    • Discreet sound
    • Not enough variety
    • Weak

Care and Maintenance

Though the Tentacle Magic Twisty is made completely of silicone, this toy is unable to be sanitized like most silicone toys because the sleeve is not removable. This does not allow you to boil the toy or to put it in the dishwasher. Instead, you should make sure to clean it with hot water and soap before and after each use. If you intend to share this product or to use it for both anal and vaginal stimulation, be sure to use it with a condom at all times just to be safe; even though it is not porous, it is not sterilizable. The bumpy texture of this toy makes it a little difficult to clean as well, so be sure to get around the entire surface with a Q-tip. Because the toy is silicone, it must be used with water-based lube to prevent damage to the material. It does attract a bit of debris because the silicone is slightly sticky, so I keep it in the provided pouch when not in use.

Packaging

The Tenticle Magic Twisty comes in a molded, clear clam shell. On the outside of the package, you will notice a sample of the silicone used to make the product; I thought this was a nice touch, especially if purchased from a live store. I did not find the sample material necessary since I got it from Eden and was not able to test the material before receiving the product. Two N batteries were included in the package as well as instructions on how to insert them. Also included was a purple storage pouch that was more than big enough for the toy. Because the Tenticle came with a storage pouch, I would rather keep my toy in there rather than inside the plastic, though I suppose either would be convenient.

Personal comments

I find it very deceptive and irresponsible on the part of NMC Ltd to use the words 'Anal Probe' on the packaging of a product that, to those of us experienced with sex toys, is obviously not designed to use safely for anal penetration. I do think that they could have added some sort of retrieval cord to the end of this toy in order to make it safe for anal insertion.

Experience

Even though it is not recommended to insert this product anally, I could not help myself. I have never experienced any anal penetration before and was very curious to learn how this would feel. I did take some precautions and tied a cord on the loop at the end and was sure to keep hold on that loop with my finger. After applying a generous amount of lube, I swirled the Tenticle around my sphincter and then gently pushed the very tip of the toy inside. I did not feel at all overwhelmed by this new sensation, though it did take a few moments for me to want to go any further. After some time just letting myself adjust to the feeling of something entering me in this way, I allowed the Tenticle to move further inside and was very pleased with how the nubs felt against the muscle there. Because I was a virgin to anal penetration, I had no problem with the toy moving further inside of me than I wanted it to. I still do not recommend the toy for this use because not everybody is as careful, and I wouldn't want any unnecessary trips to the emergency room. This has been something that I have been very curious about over the past few months and will likely lead to me purchasing something that is actually meant to be used anally. The Tenticle Magic Twisty was fun and interesting to experiment with, but it will likely end up towards the bottom of my toy box because the vibrations are just too weak for my taste.
Follow-up commentary
I still have not found a true use for this toy. As I said in the initial review, it really is not meant for anal use and though the bumpy texture feels nice when rubbed on the labia and clitoris, the vibrations are barely there, so it is really not enough to get off on.

Even though this is not recommended for anal use and you tried it anyways for the first time, I hope you try other actual anal toys because I think this one is horrible for beginners due to the texture. I did not love this toy either. Thanks for the review!
