Bright, Fun and Collarful

While more experienced collar owners may want to pass on this one; if you are a first time buyer the beginner friendly fun design, easy Velcro closure and light-weight feel is suitable for first time needs. Pleasant looking, easy to use and well priced if you are just looking to try something new.

Packaging:

The PicoBong Speak No Evil Choker Collar arrives in what has to be the most unusual form of packaging I have come across in my years of sex toy and bondage gear purchasing, a blue semi inflatable plastic pouch that reminds me of the arm bands you wear when learning how to swim. It arrives un-inflated but has an inflation valve on the back. When inflated it actually doesn’t change the shape of the packaging too much and instead it just slightly fills the inflatable pockets that surround the outside of the packaging. At first it seems impossible to find an opening to get to the collar itself and for a moment I thought that you actually may need to cut open the strange plastic inflatable packaging but at the back you will find that a sticker simply covers the opening perfectly.

Inside the plastic ‘pouch’ a piece of paper with the brand name PicoBong sits behind the collar. Matching the blue colouring of the plastic packaging, it is blue but with white silhouettes of various other toys available from PicoBong, which is a nice touch and actually the only part of the packaging that reminds you this is a sex related item rather than a flotation device.

First Impression:

Examining the Speak No Evil collar in person for the first time, it feels incredibly light weight. Made of neoprene, the raised pyramid studding that runs along the collar feels spongy when squeezed. The colour of the pink option is in person just as vivid as shown on the product page photos and the contrast against its black bordering creates a bold look. At the front of the collar hangs a sturdy plastic clip for attaching the collar to a lead and provided with the collar is a short length of material lead with a plastic loop attached to each end. To look at the collar has a young, fun and bold look to it but can appear cheap looking at times as the material almost gives off a shine.

In wear:

When worn, the soft inner material of the collar sits comfortably against the skin but with a thickness of two inches the collar can be felt against the neck especially when trying to look down at all as this causes it to press against the chin. When turning your head wearing the collar , the material can make scratchy sounds. Running your hands or anything else along the outside of the collar can make a deal of noise too. With the Velcro portion of the collar allowing you to adjust the size of the collar to make it up to two and a half inches longer I found that it fits my neck comfortably when worn at its smallest and just about fits my male partner comfortably when worn at its largest.

Measurements:

Length of collar outstretched: 19 inches

Width of Collar: 2 Inches

Adjusts to fit necks measuring: 13 to 16 inches

Length of Lead: Adjusts from 10 inches to 21 inches long
(Or half those measurements if the lead is doubled up by attaching both loops to the clip)

The look of the collar is fun and feminine when worn on a woman, when worn on a man the pink option works well for feminisation. Having a submissive male partner I actually preferred the look of the collar on him. For me the two inch thickness is the only thing that stops this being a completely feminine collar and the comfort level of the collar is quite affected by its thickness too. While the material itself is soft and comfortable to wear, the noise that comes with movement and the fact that turning your head and looking down is greatly felt meant that this had to be assigned to being a collar just for my partner to wear.
Experience
Worn by my partner, the thickness of the collar suited him much more than I felt it would suit a woman. For my husband the pink colouring of the pyramid studding added to the submissive act of wearing the collar and while the collar is mostly comfortable in wear, the awareness of it that comes with the noise it makes with movement is a regular reminder that it is there which for some submissives may be seen as a good element to have in a collar. When lowering your head the thick collar can be felt pressing against the chin which again may be a positive element if the wearer likes the feeling of restraint that this creates.

The lead that comes with collar is quite basic; a short length of thin, soft nylon material with a plastic loop on either end for attaching to the collars plastic clip. The collar can be worn with this clip either to the front or the back of the collar simply by rotating the collar and looks well when worn either way. The loops of the lead clip in easy. For a longer lead clip one loop on or for a short handle lead simply attach both loops to the clip instead. The lead can be adjusted from measuring 10 inches to 21 inches long or if you are attaching both loops to make a handle it can measure 5 to 10 Inches long. Apart from being used as a lead it can also be used to attach the collar to other restraints like wrist cuffs (which are also available in the PicoBong range)

Material/Care:

Made of Neoprene, Nylon and Velcro, the PicoBong Speak No Evil Choker Collar is easily cleaned. I had initially worried that Neoprene would be an absorbent material that may be hard to clean but upon looking into Neoprene’s properties I discovered that ‘neoprene has a closed cell structure so no dirt can penetrate into the material and consequently, cleaning with clear water or a damp cloth is sufficient. Neoprene is often used in other BDSM items such as strap-on harnesses and while it is light weight it is also surprisingly sturdy and resilient.
