Tantric Satin Ties Review

I would recommend this if you're looking for a prop to add to a costume, or if your pain play is mostly symbolic. People who are looking for something that actually hurts, even a beginner, should look elsewhere.
Published:
Pros
nice looking, easy to store, price, put together well, comfortable to hold.

Use

You can use this toy on many areas of the body. It can be used on the ass, thighs, back, breasts... anywhere, really. One of the pluses of the softness of this flogger is that since you really have to concentrate on an area to build up to a stinging sensation. You just don't have to worry about a few hits to more sensitive areas.

It is a good way to relieve some tension, as you're able to really put some power behind each swing. With a more serious toy, you would have to be much more careful.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

This flogger is made of a wooden post wrapped in red and black polyester. There are metal studs around the top and bottom of the post which hold together the satin ties and are a nice accent to the piece.

Half of the shaft of the toy is black. The other half is a vibrant and eye-catching red with black crisscrosses.

The 'satin' material is very soft and pleasant to feel. The crosses over the red do create slight friction against the palm, but not enough to irritate or really notice.

The only functional feature that it has is the wrist strap, which serves to prevent accidentally dropping or throwing the toy. Because of the sturdy craftsmanship, I wouldn't be worried about any damage to the toy from throwing it across the room, but it wouldn't be good if you accidentally hit your partner. That probably isn't the kind of abuse they agreed to, anyway.

Performance

I tried striking my left forearm with the flogger repeatedly to test this out on my own. It took a few strikes to find the right angle, and it was hard to get the sensation exactly where I wanted them. With the soft satin straps, you have to put a lot of effort into the swing to be able to feel it. On a pain scale of 1-10, I would rate it as about a 2, and I don't have a high pain tolerance. It's the equivalent of a light snap from an elastic band, which would build up nicely over extended play sessions. My right arm ended up getting tired before my skin was even pink, though.

Care and Maintenance

There weren't any cleaning instructions on the product page, and there weren't any included with the toy. However, the material is listed as polyester, which, according to EF's guide to materials, may be hand-washed in tepid water with the addition of gentle detergent.

Since the inside of the flogger is wood, I wouldn't submerse the handle in water; if you need to clean that area, a cleaning wipe would probably work.

Storing this toy couldn't be easier. If you prefer to display your collection, the wrist strap can easily be converted into a hanging strap. If you need to keep your collection more discreet, the 'satin' portion easily folds, which leaves the handle about the same size as a small dildo/vibe. I keep mine folded in my toy box with everything else.

If I was storing a more standard flogger I would worry about damaging or creasing the material, so I would find a way to loosely fold or store it flat. With the 'satin' material, it's too flexible to crease and I'm not worried about damaging it.

Experience

I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed after trying this out on myself. Even though I'm not a BDSM veteran by any means, I was expecting a bit more of a bite. I don't think there is any point in introducing this into my girlfriend and I's bedroom play. Well, maybe for a laugh, but I'm still looking for the right pleasure/pain toy.
Follow-up commentary
I ended up getting creative and put clear nail polish on the ends of the satin strips. That has given this toy a little bit of bite.
