The pressure created during suction is pretty slight. On an area such as the arm, which I used during testing and photo-taking for review-writing, the bulbs are really easy to knock off. An occasional full squeeze of the bulb is needed to maintain suction when in use for extended periods of time.

To use, simply place the bulb on the area of skin you want to stimulate, assure that its base is flat against the skin surface, and squeeze the tip until the desired suction effect is achieved. It's best to start with only slightly indenting the bulb on either side, then repeating for increased suction. This cautious approach will ensure that you don't hurt yourself. It's unlikely to do so with these simple, gentle bulbs, but better safe than sorry!

Squeezing the bulb completely until the sides touch inside will result in the fullest suction. Squeezing it more times will not create a deeper suction - these don't create a very strong suction, but rather a mild to moderate one.

I recommend at least using antibacterial hand sanitizer if not boiling these as well when sharing with a partner - if you're using them on the genitals. Bacteria can be transferred from one partner to the other, and if you're not fluid-bonded, you or your partner may end up with an infection.
