Simple vegan harness - dildo harness by ASLAN Leather - review by Femme Mystique

This harness is suitable for anyone interested in strap-on play. It can be used by women interested in having penetrative sex with other women or with men ("pegging"). Because of its minimalistic design, it could also potentially be used by a man for double penetration if he positioned the O-ring and dildo above his penis.

This harness is really easy to adjust and to use, so it is suitable for both beginners and more advanced users. For true beginners, especially for pegging, you may want to invest in a smaller O-ring if you intend on using a smaller dildo. The 2" O-ring that comes with this may not hold really thin dildos very well. Additionally, for those who like 2"+ dildos, you will probably want one that's larger than the one that's included.

The body of this harness is made of comfortable, sturdy nylon webbing and comes in either light pink or black. Nylon is a hypoallergenic, man made material and is suitable for vegans. The nylon is textured, but so long as you don't have the harness too tight it shouldn't irritate your skin. The adjusters are made of plastic, and similarly, so long as the harness has not been overtightened, they should not chafe or cut into the skin. This product also contains plastic snaps which, while I am somewhat concerned about their ability to hold up to extended use, are great for people with metal allergies.



The O-ring that comes with this is made of rubber, and the pink version of this harness has white stitching. I thought it was odd that the stitching was not done in pink to match the harness, but it is reinforced with backstitching, meaning it should be very durable. The ends of the nylon straps have been melted rather than stitched, meaning that they could potentially slip through the plastic adjuster clips, but they will not fray.

The overall craftsmanship of this lives up to Aslan's fantastic reputation. The reinforced stitching and thick nylon webbing ensure that it will hold up well. The leg straps are not sewn down to the waist band, meaning you can adjust where the leg straps are worn. The 2" rubber O-ring, with the ability to switch it out for a different ring, means that this harness will be compatible with essentially any toy with a flange.

My three minor gripes about the design of this product are that the ends of the straps are just melted rather than hemmed, the straps are so thick that it can be difficult to pull them through the plastic adjusters and requires the use of both hands (meaning that if you need tightening while you're already having sex, you will likely have to stop or pause to adjust), and the stitching doesn't match. Again, these things are very minor and don't detract much from the overall quality of the product.

The Simple Vegan Harness will fit a very wide range of sizes. The waistband will loosen to fit up to 56" hips. Though there is some variance in sizing among brands, this is approximately a women's 24W. I have 35" hips and am around a size 2, though it could still tighten further to smaller than a 0. Tightened to my sizing there is considerable slack, which can flap around quite a bit during sex. Because my partner is of a very similar size, I intend on trimming the slack and sewing a new hem on the ends of the straps.

The included rubber O-ring for this harness stretches to 2". Toys of a smaller girth work great as well, you just will want to make sure the toy has a wide base so it doesn't slip through. The O-ring is interchangeable via snaps, so if you wanted to use something with a larger girth or a smaller base, you could switch it out with another O-ring you have.

This is a great, basic harness that is virtually identical in design to the Commando and Vegan Commando by Aslan, except with nylon instead of leather or faux-leather. It's easy to slip toys in and out of this harness and, though adjusting will probably require both hands for most people, it's a pretty simple process. The harness holds toys securely and I have had no problems thus far with the straps loosening or slipping. The harness is comfortable and doesn't chafe the skin if worn at the correct size.

Aslan provides a black satin pouch to store this in to prevent it from getting tangled around all your other toys. The bag says "Simple by Aslan", which makes it easy to find if you have other toys in black satin bags.



Nylon is really easy to care for and doesn't necessarily need to be thoroughly washed after each use, due to its resistance to absorbing liquids. A quick wipe down with soap and water after each use should be generally sufficient. For the occasional more thorough cleaning, you can hand wash in warm, soapy water and then hang it up to dry. Per Aslan's website, this harness is also machine washable, though I'm not sure I would put it in the dryer.
