Expect the Unexpected

Looking for the next level in sizable dildos? Meet Hottie Xtra. At 2.25" in diameter, only true size queens should attempt to insert this firm and girthy toy. If the stretching and fullness is what you seek, Xtra is sure to please. It may take a bit of a warm up to insert, but it's worth the trouble to get there. The bullet was probably an afterthought, so don't get it expecting anything much in the vibration department.

Use

Eden has a number of larger dildo options for true size queens who need something filling. If you want to take your size up to the next level, Happy Valley presents the Xtra. Xtra is one of the Hottie line that also includes the regular Hottie and Little Hottie. While there many be many "large" dildos on Eden, Hottie Xtra falls into that special category of "extra large." Beginners need not apply.

Xtra is flared at the base, making it safe for vaginal or anal use. It is harness compatible, granted that you can get an O ring to fit around it and a willing recipient. While you probably won't need to worry about cervical bruising, you will get a stretch with this that not many other toys can lay claim to. For inexperienced users, this may cause extreme amounts of pain and possible tearing.

Hottie Xtra comes complete with bullet to convert this into a vibrator of sorts. The bullet is insertable and thus an optional feature. Dildo or vibrator - you decide.

This can be used alone or with a partner. I would highly recommend using this alone the first few times to get accustom to your limits with it unless you have experience with larger toys already. A partner won't readily know when it's "too much" until you tell them so. It's best to be able to give them some guidance beforehand.

You get two choices in color - copper or blue. Both colors are swirled. I chose the blue which is almost an electric color. The swirl pattern is beautiful. It photographs nicely, but is even prettier in person.

Material / Texture

Xtra is made of silicone. Silicone comes in at a ten on Eden's safety scale. It's non-porous in nature.

There is a medium amount of drag to Xtra's body. I can run my finger down the shaft without it jumping around, but I cannot get a perfectly smooth glide. It's just enough drag to be resistant but retain a smooth feel. The silicone is very firm. If squeezed, it gives in the tiniest amount but pushes hard back against you. It's almost like it's a workout for your hand trying to squeeze it inward. The silicone is so firm that I can find no other way to describe it. It's not soft or velvety or squishy or any other word that I might use to describe a silicone material. Just simply firm. The size combined with the firmness of the material give the distinct impression that it was hand carved from a block of silicone like a Greek statue was from stone.

Does the material add to the stimulation? Oh, yes. The size feels much larger due to the firmness of the material. While a plushy or realistic dual density toy with some give to it might be more forgiving, Xtra's material is unyielding. It's a bulldozer of a toy that will plow its way into you with no mercy. Those that like a firm toy will not be disappointed. There is no bend to the body of the Xtra.

There is no texture to the Xtra. Truly, I don't know that many people could handle a toy of this size and firmness with added texture. The head is bulbed, but that's more of design than a texture, so more on that in the design section.

There is next to no smell to the silicone. There is no taste to it.

This material will lend itself more to advanced users. Not that a firm material can't be used by a beginner, but more that a firm material combined with the size of the Xtra is not for the faint of heart. Those looking to take the next step in larger sizes may even find that the Xtra is too much simply because of the very firm quality of the material.

Design / Shape / Size

The Hottie Xtra is one of the bigger toys you will have the pleasure of running across here on Eden. It's not the biggest, but it's up there. It's built short and wide. At my measurements, the total length is 5.5". The product page lists 5.75". The insertable length at my measurement is around 4.5" while the product page lists 5.25". This of course will vary some depending on how close to the base you can get. At the widest point, where the head come to a bulge, Xtra comes in at 2.25" in diameter. At the tip of the head as well as the shaft, Xtra is 2" in diameter.

Let me put that into perspective for you my showing it to you in my hand. You'll notice it takes up pretty much all of my hand. I took one from the front and one from the side for dimension purposes.

Those of you who read my reviews may be wondering why the heck I'm reviewing a 2.25" diameter toy. For those that haven't read my reviews, let me explain. My personal preference is for smaller toys. In fact, before my quest to insert the Xtra, the largest toy I had was 1 5/8" in diameter. Well, I had a 1.75" one that I managed to get in for a few seconds before deciding it wasn't for me. So how did this size work for me? More on that in the Experience section.

How will this size work for you? Well, that depends. I can tell you that if you're just starting out with sex toys, you should stay far away from the Hottie Xtra. This is no beginner's toy. It's probably not a toy for and intermediate user either. Many advanced toy users may shy away. This is a size queen toy at its finest. If you want something filling and large, this is the size for you. All but the most experienced of size queens will probably need a substantial amount of warm up before inserting the Xtra.

Hottie Xtra is a semi-realistic toy. It has a phallic design but is done in fun colors to make it look less realistic than an actual "realistic" toy. It doesn't have the realistic texture to it or veining. It does have the head in typical phallic design.

The head comes to a rounded tip and then widens out. Once it gets to the widest point it takes a sharp curve inward and then has another bulge outward. This bulge is small and quickly rounds back inward leading to the shaft which is then straight the rest of the way down. The back has two dimples on it which give a slight raised feel to the back of the shaft. These are only about .5" long.

Perhaps because of the size or perhaps because of the difference in sizes between the bulge and shaft, the design of the head is very noticeable during use. When inserted there is a "pop" when you get past the head. When thrusting, you can feel where the head is at all times because you can feel where the bulge is in relation to the rest of the dildo.

While not a "realistic" dildo, the Hottie Xtra is by no means discreet. There is no denying exactly what the intended purpose of this item is. For travel, the short length may make it suitable for luggage. It's pretty easy to store as it's not long, just wide.

Performance

Performance of this toy will depend on a few things. The first is the user's level of experience and comfort with larger toys. For those who have not used something of this size before and have not properly warmed up, the Hottie Xtra may prove to me an uncomfortable experience. If you're used to smaller sized toys, make sure you move up gradually and don't just jump right into the Xtra.

For those looking for something that will provide a stretched and full feeling, Xtra will be a performance to remember. The large size combined with the firm material stretches and fills not only at insertion, but after as well. The 2" shaft feels much larger than that and the vaginal (or anal) opening will feel almost as stretched as the back where the larger 2.25" rests.

For those that are able, thrusting with this will give quite the experience. The bulged head noticeable during use, but does not catch onto the pubic bone or become uncomfortable (aside from the size, which feels much bigger when making thrusting motions).

While harness compatible, I sadly did not have an O ring large enough to accommodate the size of the Hottie Xtra and was not able to test in that way. You will need an O ring that will stretch to get the 2.25" through but then hold the 2" shaft in place. Also, you will have to be able to control the heavy weight of the toy in the harness.

The Xtra is not a suction cup bottom. It is a flat surface bottom.

The bullet that comes with the Xtra runs on 3 watch batteries which are included. They go at the base of the bullet.

The bullet is inserted in a hollow section in the bottom of the toy. The issue I ran into with this is that since I inserted the bullet I have been unable to get it out. Should the batteries ever die, I'm not quite sure how I'll change them.

When held outside the dildo, the bullet feels decently strong. However, it has to go through quite a bit of silicone once its in the Xtra. Once inserted, the strength comes down to about a low two vrooms. The vibrations are very buzzy. There is only one speed to the bullet. It is operated from a button located at the bottom of the bullet. It is a push button control that is simple to use.

The buzzy vibrations are really not great. I'm guessing most people aren't getting this for the vibrating component, so it's probably not that big of a deal.

Care and Maintenance

Silicone is easy to care for. You can wash this with soap and water or toy cleaner. You can also boil this for about three minutes to disinfect. It can be put in the dishwasher. If you boil it or place it in the dishwasher, the bullet should be removed.

You should use only water based lubes with this toy. Silicone lubes can damage silicone materials.

Xtra does not come with anything for storage, so you'll need to supply your own pouch or baggie. It's not the easiest thing to find something to fit this given the size. I have mine in a shoe storage baggie.

Packaging

There's not much in terms of packaging for the Hottie Xtra. It comes in a plastic bag with a paper top stapled to it. The front says "Happy Valley" and "Made in the happiest valley in Canada." The back has a little blurb on it about the company and toy. As it's just in a baggie, it's not at all discreet. It's also not great for gifting.

It would have been nice if this came in something that could have been used for storage. The size is larger and finding storage for it isn't the easiest task in the world. I'm also just big on nice packaging in general and this is pretty basic.

Personal comments

If you're looking for something in the above 2" diameter range, there are three main choices that people look at. In addition to the Xtra, there is the Randy Silicone and the VixSkin Randy. The VixSkin Randy is listed at 2 1/8" diameter as is the Randy silicone. When looking for my "warm up" dildos, I decided to get the VixSkin Randy because I though the slight size difference between the Randy and Xtra might be a better stepping stone than going directly from a 2" to a 2.25" size. I also though the VixSkin might soften the blow of the larger size. I figured I'd take this section to give you a short little comparison of the two in case you were curious.

When I measured both out, the bulge of Randy actually ended up being 2.25" as well. So the "smaller" size I was hoping for didn't really exist. Both of them are pretty much the same size wise. They both bulge out at 2.25". The difference then comes down to the material. Randy (or at least the Randy I have) is made of VixSkin, a softer dual density material. This gives Randy a bit of a cushion to the size as opposed to Xtra's unyielding, firm body.

What I noticed in use was that for some reason, the head of Randy seemed to catch me in a funny way and was a little more uncomfortable for me. It seemed to make a greater "pop" when inserted and the head was more noticeable when thusting. The head is more pronounced on Randy than it is on the Xtra and it is certainly something that you will notice when you use it.

Personally, the Xtra ended up being my favorite. While I'm a big fan of VixSkin material, the firmer material of Xtra was a nice change of pace. I'm also not a huge fan of realistic looking toys, so the bright blue color of Xtra was more appealing to me in the looks department. The head on Randy was a bit uncomforable for me to use. While I really like the VixSkin, Xtra gets more use, especially since there isn't really the size difference that I was hoping for.

Experience

EXPERIENCE

My journey with the Hottie Xtra actually started when my husband and I started pegging. I found that I enjoyed going up in size with him as much as he did. It turns out my husband likes a bit of size to his toys. I was a bit peeved that my husband could take more in the size department than I could, but I was willing to let it slide by. When talking one day about the next size that we would get for him, it was brought to my attention that it has been a fantasy of his to see me insert a larger sized dildo as part of our BDSM play. Partially because I'm submissive, partially because I was a bit jealous of my husband's ability to take in more than me, and partially because of my lust for the Eleven, I agreed to see what I might be able to work my way up to.

I started digging around and gave my husband some options. Of course, he picked the biggest one he could find which happened to be the Hottie Xtra. I hadn't showed him the Hoss until after I placed the order for the Xtra, but as soon as he saw that one he decided he liked that one the most. That was a bit more than I was willing to shoot for, so I stuck with my original goal of the Xtra.

As I mentioned in the Size section, before this journey I had been used to sizes no more than 1.5" in diameter. Jumping to 2.25" was no small task. To do it in a short period of time as part of a BDSM fantasy was a serious undertaking indeed. The Xtra was one of a few dildos that were purchased in preparation for this task. Along with it came the Cush (1.75"), the VixSkin Maverick (2"), and the VixSkin Randy (which ended up being 2.25").

Each size was used as warm up prior to inserting the Xtra. Depending on how aroused I was determined how long of a warm up with each size was required. If highly aroused, I seemed to be able to go from 1.75" to 2" quickly and then take more time to go from 2" to 2.25". When less aroused, more warm up time was needed with each size.

So far, I have only been able to do the full line up solo. In solo use, I have been able to get where I can thrust at a moderate pace with the Xtra. To get to this point took quite a bit of time dedication on my part. I would say the feeling isn't exactly orgasmic so much as it is filling, stretching, somewhat painful, and a huge turn on. The idea of being filled up is arousing in the sense that I know it fulfills a fantasy for my husband. I must admit, after actually seeing the visual, I can see the appeal. There's a certain sex appeal of the look of a large toy inserted into a small orifice.

My experience with the Xtra with my husband hasn't quite gotten to where I want it to yet. We haven't managed to get past the 2" size. When we try to use either Randy or Xtra together it doesn't seem to work quite as well as it does when I'm alone. I'm not exactly sure why this is since my arousal level is higher and he actually spends more time on warm up than I do. When I figure this out, Xtra will have met the goal intended and be a success for us. Until that time, I'll continue to at least use it for photo shoots.

A LITTLE ABOUT THIS REVIEW

When deciding upon what I wanted to do for my 100th review, I knew I wanted to do something special. Sure, I could do another luxury vibrator review, but I've done that before and I wanted something different. Something that would stand out. Something epic.

Originally, I wanted to do the Smooth S Shape. It had been on my wish list for a long time and I had yet to do any wood reviews. It's a highly sought out toy, so I figured that would be a good choice. What I failed to pay attention to was its stock status which was out of. Out of stock and had been for months.

My backup was the Fling. It was recommended to me by a few different people as a wood substitute since the Smooth S was probably not going to be back in time for this review.

Then my husband came to me with this grand idea. I ordered the Xtra shortly before I ended up ordering my Fling thinking that I might not end up reviewing the Xtra. When I decided I did want to chronicle my journey to the Xtra in reviews, I knew I could do it one of two ways. I could either review in order of size - in other words do the reviews from smallest to largest diameter with the smallest size first - or I could come out with a bang and do the Xtra as the first one.

Then it came to me. What's more epic then coming out with one of the largest sized toys on Eden as a 100th review? What's more, what's more epic than a review on said dildo coming from the girl who notoriously only buys smaller toys? So I decided to go with the bang. It just goes to show you - you never know what you expect.
