Good beginners dildo for anal

This is a good dildo for beginners into anal play or vaginal play if you don't prefer girth. It is quality silicone, slim, textured and flexible (maybe too much?). The base offers security and the option to use with a harness. It can be shared, but attracts tons of dust.

Use

The compact, by Tantus, is a great little beginners phallic-shaped dildo that can be used either vaginally or anally for masturbation, DP play or even in a harness for pegging any orifice. Due to the small girth, most will probably find it too small for vaginal pleasure. It is pure silicone, flexible, squeezable and has little to no drag. It is an ideal size for an anal beginner or intermediate user at 1" thick or for someone who does not want a real girthy toy vaginally. The stat page says it is 1" diameter, but it feels smaller than that to me. The head is the widest point and then it tapers down on the shaft a bit.

It has a flared base, which is ideal for safe anal use or to secure the compact in a harness. I got this mainly to try anally, since the bumps intrigued me for prostate stimulation, but since my woman doesn't like big toys, it might get double duty for vaginal play in our growing arsenal of toys. The great thing is, being silicone, we can share it, since silicone can be sterilized.

It is also waterproof, so tub, shower and pool play are all fair game. The curve is idea for G spot or prostate pleasing, along with the pleasure bumps on the top side of the shaft.

Material / Texture

The Tantus compact is pure Silicone. It has no real smell or taste. It is realistic in shape, but comes in your choices of colors (Red, Black or pink). The texture is smooth and slick with bumpy texture on one side and a curve to the phallus. It has a glossy/shiny appearance. Once you lube it up, it feels very smooth. It is 100% waterproof, so don't hesitate to wear in the shower or tub.

The Compact is quite flexible; almost flimsy. I was expecting it to be a bit more rigid. It is squeezable as well. This thing really attracts dust and lint, like no other toy I have had.

You can store it in a plastic baggie or a cloth pouch( not included)if you want to keep dust from attracting itself to The Tantus compact.

EF recommends not using silicone lube with silicone toys or it can degrade the material. The instructions suggest using the spot-test if you insist on using a silicone based lubricant.
    • Flexible
    • Harness compatible
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

I love the design of the compact. It is 5" long, with 4" being insertable. more than enough to hit my spot. It is 1" in diameter or 3" in circumference. Perfect size for me, as its near my maximum insertable diameter, without being painful. The design seems well thought out for pleasure. It weighs in at .2 lbs.

I would not call this toy discreet. It is obviously a a dildo and looks mostly realistic. I wouldn't hesitate to pack in a checked bag though.

Performance

This isn't the easiest toy to insert, because it bends quite a bit, but once you get the head inserted it is easy to move. The base does get lube on it and becomes slippery though. The dildo glides easily with some water-based lube applied to the toy and anus. It is a pleasurable feeling sliding in and out. Since the head is larger than the shaft, you get a slight popping sensation and then you can subtly feel the bumps on the shaft as you thrust it in and out.

The size is ideal for a beginner wanting to experiment with anal penetration. Anyone liking girthy dildos is not going to get much from the compact though. This is definitely geared toward anal penetration. I think it is too small for 99% of vaginas, in my opinion, to have much effect. Better off to try the sister dildo, The Charmer, for that or one of the other many Tantus offerings.

You can sit on this and know that the base will keep the toy secure and you won't experience any pain either, due to the flexible shaft.

The dildo is somewhat realistic looking in shape and not discreet.

Care and Maintenance

The Compact is pure 100% non-porous silicone. Silicone is a 10 on the EF rating scale for safety. There is no noticeable smell from The Compact and it is smooth to the touch, with no noticeable amount of drag. It is able to be sterilized, so you can share or swap between holes after cleaning, if you so choose.

The Silicone is easy to clean and can be sterilized with 10% bleach solution, soaking in a cup of boiling water, or cleaned with anti-bacterial soap and/or toy cleaner.

The only negative about the material is that silicone draws lint and dust, and The Compact does so worse than any other silicone toy I have used in that regard.

Compact is also Food-grade material, Hypo-allergeni, Latex free, Non-porous and Phthalates free
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The Tantus Compact arrived in a mostly transparent plastic box with openings on the top and bottom. The toy was encased in a clear form fitting shell, so you could easily see the product. The packaging is not something I would want to re-use and is recyclable.

Personal comments

If you're not an anal beginner, you will almost definitely want to get something bigger. I haven't tried The Tantus Charmer, but almost got it instead, but feared it might be too thick. It seems to be a good size for vaginal or anal use for more experienced users. If this is your first anal dildo, then I recommend giving it a try.

Experience

The Compact inserts with ease, is very smooth and glides easy, with a bit of water-based lube. It is very bendy, so it takes a little more effort to get the head in than some firmer toys I have used. All in all, it's a good size for a beginner. Size queens will desire more girth for sure. I have not tried it with a harness, but imagine the flexibility could potentially pose some difficulty.
Follow-up commentary
Though I haven't gotten much use out of it, I can still recommend this toy for users who like small (not girthy) anal toys. It is certainly good for that, but I just don't get this one into the rotation much, since most of my use is toys that stay inserted during intercourse or masturbation.
