Hooray for Platinum Silicone!

The Platinum Silicone Dream is one of the new(ish) silicone offerings by Doc Johnson. It's pretty, moderately sized and curvy, although if you need super firm g-spot pressure, this might not be the toy for you.
Published:
Pros
Filling yet manageable, made of hygienic silicone (yay!)
Cons
Picks up lint, too bendy for firm g-spot pressure

extremely useful review
I was very excited to review the Platinum Silicone Dream, because the Doc Johnson silicone toys are relatively new and I was so curious about their silicone. The Platinum Silicone Dream is part of Doc Johnson's new silicone line, which takes a lot of their best-sellers and recasts them in a superior material. The Platinum Silicone Dream only comes in pink, which makes me a little sad inside, but since this is Doc Johnson's first foray into silicone, I'm willing to forgive it. I'd love to see it in blue, though, like their Platinum Silicone Tool. The dildo has two curves, making it almost s-shaped (albeit a stretched out s). It's 1.5 inches in diameter, placing it squarely in the "moderately sized" category. It's 7.5 inches long, with 6.5 of those insertable. The base flares out a tiny bit (enough that you can get the dildo to stand on its own if you place it carefully), but it's not enough for me to feel comfortable pronouncing it safe for anal use.

The Platinum Silicone Dream comes in molded plastic sleeve encased in a cardboard box. It's fairly nondescript packaging, completely devoid of nearly-naked women on the front. The plastic sleeve is definitely temporary and not suited for long-term storage. You will want to come up with another storage option, since this toy picks up absolutely everything: lint, dust, hair, everything.

The tip of the Platinum Silicone Dream is curved, clearly intended for g-spot stimulation. In practice, however, I found the silicone to be a little too bendy to provide serious g-spot pressure. If you push down on the end while it's inserted, the toy just bends in the middle. The pressure doesn't translate into increased upward pressure on the g-spot. It's just slightly too floppy. The whole toy bends easily and is more squeezable than the silicone produced by Lelo or Ophoria. If you like light g-spot pressure or don't need your g-spot toys to be very firm, the Platinum Silicone Dream will do nicely. It's nicely filling without being overwhelming.

Care is easy, since the Platinum Silicone Dream is made of pure silicone (confirmed! See below!). It can be sterilized by by boiling, wiping down with 10% bleach solution, or putting it on the top rack of the dishwasher (no soap). This toy is a huge lint/hair magnet, so you're going to want to store it in a bag, since the original packaging isn't really suitable for for long-term storage. My pronouncement on the Doc Johnson silicone line so far: totally solid and happily affordable.
Experience
When you open up the package, there's a faint fruity odor. This set of some alarm bells, since pure silicone isn't supposed to smell at all. So I put the Platinum Silicone Dream through a battery of tests to ensure that it is, in fact, made of pure silicone. First, I performed a flame test. For those of you who don't know, silicone burns at a higher temperature than silicone composite materials. The flame from a match won't burn silicone, but it will burn lesser materials. When I applied flame to the Platinum Silicone Dream, I got soot but no melting. This is the same result as the flame test I performed on a control toy made of Fun Factory Silicone (the Bandito). Next, I threw the Platinum Silicone Dream in a pot of boiling water and let it sit for three minutes. Silicone composite material can sometimes break down in boiling water. I'm pleased to report that the Platinum Silicone Dream held up admirably. As a result of these tests, which confirm the findings of others who have also performed flame tests (scientific results are only confirmed by being replicated!), I feel pretty good pronouncing that Doc Johnson's silicone is real silicone, despite the initial odor (which must come from the packaging or some sort of treatment during production).

Great review! I'm sad it's not a bit firmer though. Sounds like it won't work that well for me because of that. And what's with the lack of a base? Well, I guess it is their first try at silicone... I shall be patient.
