The Cobra Curve Cobalt Spiral

The deep "can't miss the g-spot" cobra curve of the Cobalt Spiral, coupled with its eyecatching cobalt coloration make this hefty glass dildo an excellent choice for lovers of texture, art, and slow thrusting. The spiral begins subtly but becomes pronounced toward the base, so those who prefer fast thrusting or continuous texture may find themselves wanting to slow down to let some sunlight play through the deep blue glass and let their muscles catch up.

Pros
Cobra-like g-spot curve, upper spiral is subtle, beautiful deep cobalt coloring, made in USA
Cons
Spiral wrap is too pronounced toward the base of the shaft, for me. Not what I expected.

MATERIAL AND MANUFACTURER
Phallix are one of the premiere makers of glass dildos. Glass has been one of my favorite sex toy materials for as long as I've known it existed---glass is hypoallergenic, body-safe, boilable for sanitation, and unyieldingly firm. It can be blown with textures for excellent thrusting toys, or with curves for precision g- or p-spot pressure. Better still, it can be blown in scores of pretty colors and patterns. From my very first, simple, clear glass dildo, I've branched out a lot over the years, and Phallix has become one of my favorite manufacturers. They are groundbreaking in their designs and in their colors. Their pieces are all blown by craftsmen in the USA. They have extremely high quality standards, testing all their creations for cracks that would be invisible to the naked eye. Lovely long story short, I've come to own a few of their dildos, and I've always been happy.

ANTICIPATION
I was looking forward to getting the Crystal Cut G-Spot to finish off my Phallix collection. I had it waiting in my cart for a few weeks as I saved up for it, and when I went to check out, was surprised to see the picture had changed from to . I know from previous experience that I don't enjoy spirals with space between them as much as I enjoy other textures, so, knowing how helpful EF support always is, I sent in a ticket asking if it was possible to get the diamond-patterned Crystal Cut as opposed to the spiral "Crystal Cut." My answer came back, if I ordered item HT9-1.25BL, I would get what I wanted, and if I ordered HT9-1.25DBL, I would get the spiral. I dutifully saved up the $20 extra and ordered the HT9-1.25BL, and when I opened the box, the product code on the sticker was right, but the dildo inside was a spiral instead. EF has an excellent returns policy, so I thought about returning it... but ultimately decided that since the hand-blown hook looked ideal for G-spotting, and because the spirals started off very subtly, and because customer service told me there would be no more crystal cut dildos coming in to offer me a replacement, I decided to keep it.

At the end of the day, it's not fair to blame your cat for not fetching your slippers or your dog for not keeping mice out of the cellar, so even though it took me several weeks to take the "Cobalt Spiral" (because I'm not going to name my cat Rover, either) out of its plastic packaging and padded microfiber pouch, I did wind up enjoying it a fair bit. I decided to put my review on the page of the dildo it's referring to, rather than the dildo I ordered, in case others are curious about the spiral.

My Cobalt Spiral stands upright on its base, and continues straight up for about 3 inches, before ducking into a perfectly-executed Cobra-like curve. The spiral, which is very well-defined toward the base, smoothes into the surface of the glass into the curve, finally disappearing. The curve is then followed through with a smooth extra ridge, topped by a teardrop head. The teardrop head has Phallix' classic etched V, usually excellent for clit stimulation when you draw the dildo out to enjoy the ride, but this V is on the opposite side of the head, so it's only for show.

Though it can be a bit difficult to measure an accurate diameter for something covered in texture, the shaft of my Cobalt Spiral has an approximate diameter of 1+1/4", and then the spiral adds about a smooth 1/8" toward the top of the shaft, and about 3/16" toward the base. The diameter of the head is fully 1.5", as is the ring just below the head.

Experience
EXPERIENCE
In use, the Cobalt Spiral's cobra-shaped curve is excellent on the g-spot. Almost beyond excellent and into superb. However, as I'm working the six insertable inches inside myself, I often wind up thrusting deeply enough that the more extreme spiral at the base is right at the vestibule of my vagina, so my entry inches can feel a little beat-up after a long session.

I generally enjoy aggressive texture (including such dildos as Phallix' Gold Fumed Rocky Road and Orion's Allegro), but sparsely spaced spirals really aren't my thing. I learned when I was comparing the double-spiral of my Gold Swirled Probe (from Phallix) with my Pink Swirl (from SSA Glass) that the reason for this is that when I'm thrusting fast with a sparse spiral, my kegels will tighten up around the 'gap,' and be suddenly awakened and asked to stretch out with almost no advance notice when they get to the ridge. When a spiral is tightly packed, my muscles just keep undulating the whole ride, and I love it. When the spiral is subtle, like at the tip of this toy, it's lovely as well. But the last two passes of this wrap are sort of abrupt, and can take their toll on my muscles if I don't slow down. (And who wants to slow down?)

FINAL THOUGHTS
The Cobalt Spiral will be an excellent choice for those looking for a g-spotting toy with a variable amount of texture. If you g-spot is 3-4 inches in, you might not even insert this to the point where the more pronounced ridges crop up. The cobra-like g-spot curve will be excellent for g-spot and p-spot seekers alike. Finally, the Cobalt color is fantastic, and though it's not as bright as the product pictures unless your house is lit like a photography studio, its dark dark blue with occasional shafts of cobalt light where the sun catches it are almost prettier than I can describe, and it's certainly prettier than I can capture with my webcam. This is a nice toy in performance, and a very nice toy in appearance.
