Use

The Velvet Touch is a simple traditional vibrator from Doc Johnson. It is made of hard plastic which makes it compatible with water and silicone based lubes. It’s design allows it to be easy to use almost anywhere on the body, on the clitoris, vaginally, or on aching muscles. It shouldn’t be used anally though because it doesn’t have a flared base to keep it outside your body. It is also waterproof so feel free to take it in the shower, just make sure the cap for the batteries is tightly secured.

Material / Texture

The material is a very smooth plastic which has very little drag so not much lube is needed for insertion. I associate a velvety feeling more so with silicone or ABS plastic vibes so the name is a little misleading. It just feels like hard plastic. This would be great for a beginner since there is no texture along the shaft at all and you can control just how much you want to insert.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Rigid

Design / Shape / Size

The design of the velvet touch is rather simple. It looks like a giant marker with a nice rounded tip for easy insertion. The vibe is just over 7 inches in total and 6 inches insertable. At its widest it has a circumference of 3 making it also great for beginners since the diameter isn’t too large and intimidating.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Velvet Touch is operated by one turn-dial at the base which allows you to control how much vibration you want to have. The edge around the dial is a little rough so it’s easy to tell where you have to twist it. On the lowest setting, the vibrations are fairly strong and a little buzzy but still feel nice. Turned all the way up the vibrations are quite powerful and gets quite noisy as well. It could probably be heard through a closed door.

The vibrations can be felt throughout the whole vibe but are more concentrated at the tip and aren’t so bad at the base. If it’s in use for a long time then your hand might feel a little tingly. The dial is a little rigid to turn, but this prevents you from accidentally changing away from your favourite setting.

It is operated by two AA batteries that need to be inserted pointy side first. There is a little plastic tube on the inside, not really sure why but it doesn’t have to be taken out to put the batteries in. The cap that opens the battery compartment is quite smooth so you’ll probably need to wait till your hands are dry and not full of lube in order to remove the batteries after use. It is never a good idea to store your toys with the batteries still in them so I keep a separate container for all my batteries.

Care and Maintenance

This vibe is easy to clean since it’s just made of plastic. Wash with water and antibacterial soap or your favorite toy cleaner, dry off and it’s good to store. It won’t attract any lint or pet hair so you can safely store it anywhere.

Packaging

The packaging for this toy was also simple. It came in a nice clear plastic package that easily shows off what you just bought. When I opened it I didn’t notice any offensive smells at all. Personally I didn’t think the packaging was great for storage so I just threw it away. It also contains instructions mainly about how the batteries work.

Experience

The Velvet Touch has a nice range of vibrations. Even though the package claims it’s waterproof, I prefer not to use this one in the shower because of it’s unforgiving nature. I prefer to use toys in the shower that are more flexible and better to thrust with. It is very firm but the size is great for a beginner. It is also very sturdy so it should last you a long time.
Follow-up commentary
I don't pull this vibrator out much anymore because I have ones that are quieter and do a better job. Each time I try to use this I have to stop because the noise is just too distracting, and I have to switch to something else. The motor makes a rattling sound, even when I change the batteries. The Black Magic Vibrator is just like this one, but a lot less noisy. I'll keep this toy around just in case my Black Magic one dies.

Awesome review, but that is hella loud for that type of vibe! Dear Lord!

Do you think taking out the tube in the battery compartment might help with the noise factor? Just a thought. Sometimes it is better to leave them it, I usually find out after I have removed them thou.

Good suggestion but it doesn't work if I take the tube out, I think it helps hold the batteries in place.
