Old Reliable

This toy is a great value for what you get. I think this would be an excellent choice for a first toy or a first classic style vibe. I've had mine for a few years now and it still sees use. It's not the most impressive toy, but it doesn't disappoint either.

Use

A traditional style, hard plastic vibrator is a staple in any toy box. My Velvet Touch has been in use for a few years now, and still functions as well as it did the day I got it. This vibe can be used for many purposes, but I think it performs best as a clitoral vibe. You can use it for internal stimulation or to tease the nipples as well. It is not the best toy for G-spot stimulation. I wouldn't use it anally due to its lack of flared base.

I have bought this toy as a gift for people before, and I think it would make a great first toy. More seasoned users will appreciate this toy as well. It is waterproof, so feel free to take your playtime into the bath or shower if you wish.

Material / Texture

Velvet Touch is made of PU coated hard plastic and has no taste or smell out of the package. Hard plastic is a nice, safe material that has no phthalates and is not very porous. The velvet coat makes it very smooth and it glides easily over the skin. It feels almost buttery. The lack of texture and the simple shape might underwhelm some users, but I like smooth toys for clitoral use. Users that don't like firm toys will want to skip this one.

Design / Shape / Size

Velvet Touch is a very classic and basic design. It's 7" long, has a 6" insertable length, and is 1" in diameter. It's not shrimpy, but also not a large toy by any means. It has a tapered tip, making it easy for insertion. I prefer larger/longer toys for clitoral stimulation so there is more to hold on to. You can hold either the shaft or tip against the clitoris for different kinds of stimulation.

Since this is a very classic design for a vibrator, I do not feel that it is discreet. It is, however, easy to hide. It can be simply slipped into a toy box, sock drawer, bedside table, or anywhere else you store toys. I wouldn't carry it onto a plane, but there's no reason not to travel with it!

Functions / Performance / Controls

This is a very simple toy to operate. The battery cap screws off and you put your two AA batteries inside. The batteries seem to last a good long while. There is a dial on the very end of the toy that controls the vibration speed. A turn of the dial will take you from low to high vibrations, and anywhere inbetween. The vibrations are strongest in the bottom half of the toy. I can't tell exactly where the motor is located, but it seems to be very close to the end. The vibrations themselves aren't incredibly rumbly, but aren't annoyingly buzzy either. At the highest setting it has enough power to get the majority of people to clitoral climax. A little music, a fan, running water, or TV will easily cover up the noise of this toy. Speaking of water, it is waterproof. I don't know how much I'd submerge it, but it does do very well in the shower.

Care and Maintenance

Velvet Touch is incredibly easy to care for. I clean mine with toy cleaner and a washcloth out of convenience. Soap and water are also acceptable for cleaning this toy. It can be stored pretty much anywhere. I keep mine loose in my toy box with other hard plastic toys. The box it comes in is small enough to serve as a storage container as well. I find water-based lubes sufficient, but you can use silicone-based lube if you want.

Follow-up commentary
After years of light use it still works! Maybe mine is just magical, but I never expected this kind of reliability from such an inexpensive toy. Sometimes how fancy a toy is doesn't matter.
