The DJ Velvet Touch is definitely one of those beginner vibrators that would not disappoint you, especially if you are new to sex toys. The shaft is nice and long, smooth and luxurious to the touch, and provides just a little bit of surface drag. I like that it does pack a lot of vroom on the highest setting, and the dial is pretty much a no brainer. You just twist it to gradually increase the vibration speed to your liking.

You can use it internally for vaginal vibrations, and externally for clitoral vibrations. The lowest setting is actually a very nice warm up, and I usually start by gently rubbing the tip of the Velvet Touch against my clit. The surface provides just enough drag without scraping against your skin, and really feels like smooth rubber even if it is actually made of plastic.

It is truly waterproof and I have used this dildo in the shower and in the bath with absolutely no problems, and I find that it is currently the quietest vibrator I own (I have three).

The Velvet Touch Vibe is made of ABS plastic coated with PU or polyurethane. PU is a chemically inert plastic and this combo rates a 7 on the EF safety scale. You cannot sterilize it but it is phthalate free, and can easily be cleaned with soap and water.

It has a vague plastic smell if you take it out of the box but the scent isn't anything overpowering. I just make sure that I clean it before and after each use to stay on the safe side. While it does not cling to odors very much, I find that if you do not wash this vibrator very thoroughly, it will vaguely taste like soap if you lick it. So I believe that it is important that you rinse it properly every time.

The texture of this toy is amazing and truly is velvety to the touch. If you did not know that it was made of plastic, you could have easily mistaken it for smooth, silky rubber or silicone. However, the actual body of the toy is very hard and rigid, and has absolutely no give.

As for the dial on the toy, it is made of translucent hard plastic and attaches to the battery compartment cover using what seems to be a stainless steel screw.

The size is absolutely perfect for a beginner like myself. This is my first vibrator, and I felt very at ease upon first insertion. I would say that it is fairly discreet but it does not take a genius to figure out what it is used for.

One thing I like about this vibe is its battery compartment. It was only after getting a second vibrator that I had to stuff full of cardboard to silence that I realized how well designed the battery compartment of this toy really is. There is a smaller inner tube that prevents the batteries from rattling in the compartment, and an O ring prevents moisture and water from entering. I also found that unless you screw the cap on tightly, the vibrator will not turn on if you twist the dial. It is completely water proof.

The Velvet Touch has multiple speed settings that you can gradually increase by twisting the dial at the bottom. The dial is easy to turn and does not really bother me even if my hands are slippery with lube. As for the strength, the first few speed settings increase slowly, but the very last speed seems to jump a little, and is much more powerful than the second to the last speed. I like using this setting when I am very close to orgasm. It just packs that extra punch that really pushes me over the edge.

I find that it is pretty quiet and I doubt that people would hear it behind closed doors. If you have an electric fan on or are using it inside the shower, the vibe's sound is pretty much undetectable.

It is truly waterproof and I have had no problems using this in the bath. However, I do notice that moisture gets inside the dial. It is not connected to the battery compartment so it wont affect the performance, but I worry that the crevasse would invite bacterial growth.

The vibrations of this toy are strongest at the tip of the vibe, but it really travels well through out the rest of the body. This vibe really delivers and lasts a very long time with the same battery. However, the vibrations do get weaker once your batteries are close to draining.

Since it is made of plastic, this toy is compatible with almost any lube that you choose, whether it is silicone or water based. It is very easy to clean and to store since the material does not really react with other materials like silicone and jelly would if they are stored with other toys.

Cleaning really consists of just using antibacterial soap and water. I then pat it dry and make sure that it is completely dry before packing it back into its original box. The fact that it is waterproof makes cleaning a synch.

However, I do have a few gripes with this toy. Even if I clean it thoroughly before and after use, I have noticed some very faint staining on the surface of this vibe. It is not very obvious and does not smell or feel any different, but since I got this in Lavander, I could really notice each and every spot of discoloration on this toy. But it could be just age. I have used this vibe almost everyday for several months now, and that the plastic may have stained over time.

The packaging of this toy is quite simple. Just a translucent plastic box with cute vector designs and a little mold that keeps the vibe in place for display. It is quite cute to look at and makes a nice gag gift, but it really is not the best box for storage as it falls apart over time. I used to store the vibe in its original box but had to find a bag for it instead.

This is my very first vibrator ever and it was truly love at first orgasm. The Velvet Touch has just enough power to get me off, and the strongest setting is actually too strong for me if I apply it directly to my clit. It can be a real clit burner if I use the strongest speed right away.

I like that it was narrow and comfortable to insert, which was truly perfect for a first timer. It was long too so I could insert it while still having enough length to hold on to it comfortably during thrusting. I like that the material feels wonderful, but you do need to be especially wet or lubed up because it can provide a lot of friction.

I currently have two other vibes but the DJ Velvet Touch is still the quietest among the ones I own. It is currently my favorite toy, and I have had it for half a year now without it breaking, weakening, or burning out.
