~Use
The Precious Metal Gem by California Exotic Novelties could be used for a variety of purposes, the major one being clitoral stimulation. This toy could also be inserted vaginally or even anally. I would be careful if using it for anal play as it does not have a large base to keep it from going in farther than intended. This waterproof toy could also be used in the shower, bath, pool, hot tub, you name it. This could be good for either gender, depending on how you want to use it. It could be used as a massager or a teaser.




~Packaging
This product comes respectfully packaged, in a clear box with some brown and white circle detailing. Thankfully, there are no nude women or graphic images. The box also comes with a small slip with instructions on how to insert the battery. The back of the box says that the product is waterproof and gives some detailing such as "Powerful, Multi-speed Vibrations" and "Sleek, Smooth, Seamless Design".

~Functions/Controls
It's turned on by twisting a nob at the end of the toy (called a dial-base). The further the twist, the more the speed increases, meaning the toy doesn't have set increments of speed increase. I had a bit of trouble with this but it was by no means impossible to adjust while inserted. The bullet is down towards the 'head' of the toy so the vibration decreases as it reaches the base.

~Design/Material
The toy runs on one AA battery. It had no taste or smell and comes in three different colors. The insertable length is 4.5"(11 cm) which I found to be the perfect size. It doesn't have a very small or large girth (1 inch diameter) which could be great for beginners/intermediate toy users. I also thought the inlaid crystal cap at the end was very cute. This toy is made out of a smooth plastic (8 out of 10 on the Eden safety scale). It has no texture at all, which leaves very little friction when wet. The toy is tapered and has a typical "bullet" shape.
One huge problem I found with the toy was its metallic paint. After no more than 5 uses the paint began to chip/flake off, leaving the silver underneath exposed. This is part of the reason that I gave this toy one star. The box says right on it "safe and pure" however I don't think paint falling off is 'body safe'. From reading the other reviews, I seemed to be the only one with this problem although I took good care of it. Sadly, this toy was also a bit loud and kind of buzzy. This could be a problem for people living in a dorm, with a roommate, or just someone who doesn't want it to be heard.




~Care
I would say soap and water would do the trick here. You could also use a wet rag, toy cleaner or even baby wipes if necessary. I've also heard that rubbing alcohol works too. Care is fairly easy on this toy. The box says to always use water based lubricant for maximum pleasure. If you intend to share this toy I would recommend using a condom, as with most toys.

~Performance
This toy worked brilliantly. It had just the right amount of vibration, great speeds, all a girl could ask for, until it broke. Right after the third time I used this toy it simply wouldn't turn on. I tried a new battery in every way, shaking it to see if something had come loose, but nothing. I hadn't submerged it in water without a tight seal either so I know that wasn't the problem (seeing as I cleaned it with a damp rag). Honestly I'm very disappointed with this toy. For the cheap price of the toy, if it had worked a few more times I wouldn't have disliked it so much. Between the chipping paint and the very short lifespan, I really believe this toy doesn't deserve much more than a one or two stars. I decided to round down to one star because of how excited I had been for this toy. The majority of other users gave this toy 4 stars. That is really what I expected out of this toy and one of my favorite manufacturers (Cal Exotics). I wouldn't buy this toy again nor recommend it to a friend. My advice would be to pay a bit more for a toy of better quality.

I really wished that this vibe had worked for me, I have't seen anyone else with this problem yet. But sadly my Precious Metal Gems is still broken and the paint is still chipped. So I just cannot use it. It's safe to say that I continue to not recommend this product.
