Pretty...Unimpressive.

Overall I'm less than thrilled by Pretty Pearl. Though it has a great look and shape, it just doesn't pack the punch I need to truly enjoy a toy. If you like a slim toy, are sensitive to vibrations, and have an easy time achieving a g-spot orgasm, than this might be a good fit for you. However, if you need some power or girth to feel satisfied, than pass on this one.

Use

Pretty Pearl G-Spot from Pipedream, is a slim vibrator that's designed to target the g-spot with it's nicely curved end. Thanks to the pointed tip, it also works well as a clitoral vibrator, though is much longer than necessary for that type of stimulation. This vibrator can be used on any erogenous zone, and though this was made with the female anatomy in mind, it can be used on a male as well. Do avoid using anally for safety reasons. Since there's no flared base on this toy, the vibe could get stuck inside of you and require an embarrassing emergency room visit!

This vibrator can be used during solo time, but can also be used with a partner. Use during mutual masturbation or let your partner take over the controls! You also have the ability to step out of the bedroom and into the tub or shower and continue your play time there since Pretty Pearl is also waterproof!

Material / Texture

Pretty Pearl is made from TPR which rates a 7/10 on the Eden material safety scale. It's hypo-allergenic, latex free, and phthalates free. The product page and package both state that the material is non-porous, but the material page says otherwise. Since they contradict each other, I would err on the side of caution and use a condom if you plan on sharing this toy with someone else.

The first thing I noticed when I opened up my new toy, was that there was a light chemical smell to it. Being that it's TPR, that's not an uncommon thing. The smell is very similar to the way inflatable pool toys first smell when you take them out of the package for the first time. Even after washing and using a few times, the smell has remained. It's not super obvious unless you stick your nose up to the toy, but it is there.

The feel of the toy is okay. There is a slight drag across the skin, but there's no lint issue with this toy which is nice. The material is very smooth and has no texture to it. This is a positive for someone who is sensitive to textures. However, there is a very prominent seam that runs along the full length of both sides of the toy. This might be an issue for some. Though I can feel it with my hands, I wasn't able to feel anything while using it, so it wasn't a problem for me.

Pretty Pearl does have a little bit of flexibility to it, but not a ton. At the thinnest part of the toy you can bend it, but that's the only spot. When you try to squeeze it, you can tell where the mechanical parts are because there's no give in those places, but the center and area closest to the battery cap, both have some give to it.

Design / Shape / Size

Pretty Pearl comes in four different colors; purple, green, pink, and (the one I'm reviewing) blue. The look of this toy is nice and shiny, and has an almost iridescent or pearly (imagine that!) look to the coloring. I was attracted to the look of the toy online, but in person, it almost has a dull finish to it, which is rather disappointing.

The design of Pretty Pearl is supposed to focus totally on your g-spot. The tip of this toy comes to a very prominent point which, hopefully, is able to pinpoint your g-spot with ease.

The business end of this toy is much larger than the center area, which I think also helps with giving your g-spot full focus and attention. You're not paying attention to the girth, you're focused on what the pointy end is doing or not doing for you.

Because of Pretty Pearls slim size, it's a great non-intimidating choice for someone who's looking to find their g-spot or someone who isn't used to penetration. For more advanced users, unless you like your toys to be rather slim, this won't satisfy you. The design seems nice for g-spot stimulation, but that might not be enough for someone who's already found and enjoys g-spot play.

This vibrator isn't the best choice if you're looking into one that would make a nice travel companion. It's not compact enough for it to be worth it. It would take up a good amount of space in a medium sized purse, but would fit in a backpack, large purse, or briefcase if you really felt it necessary.

The look of this toy is not discreet at all. Unless you're completely unfamiliar with sex toys, it's pretty obvious what this is for. For that reason, I would try to keep it hidden from curious eyes.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Pretty Pearl is powered by using 2 AAA batteries that aren't included with your toy. The functions are controlled by one button that's on the battery cap of the toy. Twist off the cap, insert your batteries according to the marks shown inside the compartment, line up the cap, close, and you're ready for business!

Once your batteries are in place, you click the button in the center of the cap once to turn it on. It will start on the lowest setting. Click the button a second time and you'll be on the middle setting. A third click takes you to the highest setting, and the fourth turns the toy off. You always have to cycle through the setting in order to turn the toy off. Every time you press the button, you'll hear the little click, ensuring that the button was pressed.

Since the button sits below the cap rim, there's little concern about accidentally changing your setting or turning it off while in use. I think they did a wonderful job at designing that part of this toy.

The three settings are made up of three speeds of constant vibrations; low, medium, and high. The vibrations are located more at the tip of the toy, but do travel through the it. The end near the cap gets the least amount of vibrations on the whole piece, but isn't that important since you want the power to be at the tip. You might notice a little tingle to your fingers depending on how long you use the toy, but it's not bad and doesn't last long.

The power of this toy is less than impressive. I didn't think that it would be a super powerful toy, but I did expect that it would have a little more 'umph' behind it than it does. If you're a power queen like me, you don't want to even bother with this toy. However, if you're sensitive to vibrations, than you would probably enjoy the power that comes from it.

The good thing about this toy is how quiet it is. It can barely be heard through the covers, but wouldn't be heard through a closed door. I would almost prefer the toy to be louder and have some more power behind it than to be super quiet and not have the power I need. It does make a good toy to buy if you're living with a roommate, since the likelihood of them hearing your toy is very slim.

On top of being a very quiet toy, it can be brought into the shower with you. There's a very prominent, clear plastic piece sitting between the cap and 'shaft' of the toy. This isn't a typical ring that could be removed, it's permanently there, making this toy waterproof.

Care and Maintenance

Caring for Pretty Pearl is quite simple. You can wash it with antibacterial soap and warm water, or your favorite sex toy cleaner. This toy cannot be sterilized due to the material type, so using a condom is encouraged if you plan on sharing. Always make sure that your toy is fully dry and the batteries are removed before storing.

Because this toy doesn't play well with others, you'll want to make sure to keep it away from toys of similar materials. The box it comes in would work for storage, or you could slip it into a toy pouch, or plastic container. It's small enough that it would fit easily in your nightstand, dresser drawer, your toy box, or something similar.

Pretty Pearl is compatible with both silicone, and water based lubricants.

Packaging

Pretty Pearl comes in a plastic package that has lots of information on it. The front of the package has a window in the shape of the toy so that you can see it without opening it up and is surrounded by leaves and swirls, the product name, and information about the toy.

The top of the package was supposed to have this white cover on it, but I found it in my brown cardboard box that it was shipped in, so it doesn't stay on the package very well at all.
4

Once you remove the white cover (if yours comes with it actually on), the inner clam-shell case easily slides out. This piece was made to fit this toy and has three spots that snap together to keep the toy contained.

7

The package can be used for storage, but it does take up a lot more space than necessary and can be disposed of as you would anything that's plastic.

As you can tell from the images, the package isn't discreet as far as what it is, but it's tasteful in the fact that there's no nudity on it.

I could see this making an okay gift since it has a pretty, girly look to it. It has more of a teenager look to it, so someone who's eighteen to early twenties would probably appreciate this most.
    • Good for storage

Follow-up commentary
I tried using this a couple more times and just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it. The power just isn't enough in this toy and I found myself trying to force an orgasm while using it. Someone who's very sensitive to vibrations would probably enjoy this, but it just wasn't enough for me.
