A Fun Book

This book is a fun little read with a lot of interesting pictures, and is very informative about S&M and bondage for the beginner sub or doms. However, it doesn't focus on any other fetish outside of S&M, so if you are looking to expand your horizons past S&M play, look elsewhere.

I purchased this book out of curiosity, and mainly because it had a cool cover (the cover of the book is made of rubbery PVC - how fitting for a book about fetishes!)

I am a psychology major in college, currently studying to get my final doctorate in Sex Therapy. That said, I am pretty much interested in every aspect of sexual culture - toys, activities, relationships, etc. I was hoping that by reading this book I could expand my knowledge of fetishes a bit more.

Unfortunately, this book seems to almost exclusively focus on bondage and other similar S&M fetishes. This is a bit upsetting, since I know a lot about bondage, safe S&M practice, and the different types of S&M role playing. There is one chapter that briefly mentions other types of fetishes, but there are so many out there that it seems like this book could have expanded horizons a bit.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great, fun read. The whole book is full of fun pictures (of people performing different S&M activities), fun illustrations (of how to perform different S&M activities), and even a little glossary (of different S&M terms). Now, I love S&M as much as the next person, but I was interested in learning about things like foot worship, baby play, furries, etc.

I don't regret buying this book in the least - it provided quite a bit of fun giggling at pictures, and even got my boyfriend in the mood for a little S&M. I recommend it for anyone looking into doing a little more research into S&M, or if you are curious about doing some bondage or S&M role play with a partner. However, this is not a research book, nor is it a guide book for any fetish past S&M.

It still looks cool on a book shelf though.

What are some of the fetishes covered?
  • Contributor: DrNike69
Like I mentioned, it is mostly S&M type fetishes. They include bondage play, submission/domination, orgasm denial, pony play, role playing, and brief mentions (like one or two sentences) about wax play, foot worship, and furries.

bound in PVC? Fitting. I see what you mean about it focusing almost exclusively on SM. That's kind of a misnomer, then? You say it was informative, was that from the glossary or the images?

It was very informative in the sense that it knows a WHOLE lot about S&M.it goes a lot into the different styles of S&M, and talks a bit about the history of S&M through the ages. The glossary is pretty interesting and defines a lot of S&M terms that aren't used in everyday life (unless you practice S&M everyday Winking )

But, the images were pretty fun to look at, so its not a total loss.
