Beauty's Punishment - erotic book by Dutton - review by Princess-Kayla ♥

This is what I wrote for the About author section for the first book:
"This book was written by Anne Rice under the name A.N. Roquelaure. I've never read her work before, but based on this book, I'll be reading much more. From what I gather, she's written several other popular books that have been adapted into a few movies. Her various books have sold over 100 million copies, making her one of the most popular authors in American history. I can see why too, because she's a fantastic author. She's very descriptive and really makes you feel like part of the story."

I'd like to add that this book is very adult, but easy to follow. It's a fast read, and keeps you interested the whole time. This book enthralled me even more than the first, and I can't wait to read the next one.

This is the second book of Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty books. It takes place where the first one ended, and transitions very well. Some books start out kind of slow, but like the first one, this book had me intrigued from the beginning.

In this series, it explains what would have happened if Sleeping Beauty woke up to become a slave in a neighboring kingdom. All the surrounding kingdoms send tributes to the queen there, and while they're paddled, and sexually tormented, the slaves are never really in harms way. The same goes for this book.

In the first book, we hear about "the village", but we don't find out what it is until close to the end when Beauty does something to end up being taken there. The village is a much rougher version of her slavery at the castle. She's auctioned off to an inn keeper who doesn't take any sass, and Beauty learns the thrill of punishment.

The story also follows Tristan, another slave on the same path as Beauty. Beauty meets him on the way to the village, and for about every 2-3 chapters about Beauty, there's 1-2 about Tristan. Beauty's story is written in 3rd person point of view, while Tristan's is written in 1st.

This is definitely an erotic novel. It had me getting turned on with every turn of the page. There's certainly never a dull moment in these books.

They're not for everyone though. They explore various kinks in this book that some people will love, but others may find strange or disturbing. Tristan is used as a pony for his master. Mostly there's a lot of spanking and paddling for Beauty, along with only being able to walk on her hands and knees. However there is one scene that has some light bestiality. It's only a couple paragraphs, but it did make me a little uncomfortable. Anne Rice was classy about it though.

This book was well written, and very erotic. If you're into BDSM power dynamics, pony play, pet play, impact play or numerous other kinks, you may enjoy reading this.

The book is only about 8" by 4". It's pretty much your average book size.

It's not a very discreet book to read though. The front cover shows Beauty laying on a bed of sorts. It shows her naked upper torso. She has some kind of frilly gold necklace or sash around her shoulder, and under her breasts. While it's in the style of old paintings of naked women, and very well done and tasteful, it's not appropriate to read in all settings without a book cover of sorts.

The back cover says something about it being and erotic novel in gold across the top. Then it has a summary of the story.

I'm a kinky person, so I found this whole book erotic and great to read. The different types of play didn't really phase me at all, but some people could be offended or disturbed by reading some of this book. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.

I'm personally excited to get onto the next book though, and can't wait to see what the author has in store now.
