Simply Sensual Pomegranate Ginger Bath and Shower Creme can be used as both a bubble bath and body wash. Use it by yourself as an everyday cleansing product, or with a partner for some sexy shower or bath time. It isn't moisturizing, so it would be better for those with oilier skin. Those with drier skin will need to follow with a moisturizer. This product contains pheromones, which are supposed to increase sexual arousal, but users may not notice any effects. The pheromones are designed to be used by women, and are presumably meant to attract men, so people of other genders or orientations probably won't find the pheromones helpful. The label says this product is designed for all skin types, including sensitive skin. I have sensitive skin and allergies and did not experience a reaction to the product, even though it contains an ingredient I have had problems with in the past. The Bath and Shower Creme contains many botanical extracts, so those with plant allergies should check the ingredient list before ordering. Simply Sensual products do not contain parabens.

When dispensed from the bottle, the Bath and Shower Creme is a shimmery pale pink. It is thinner than most shower gels, and similar in thickness to other bubble baths that I have used. It is easy to dispense from the bottle, but not so thin that it drips everywhere. When applied directly to the skin, it feels similar to other body washes or liquid soaps; it is smooth and slippery, and begins to turn white as it is rubbed into the skin. When water is added, it begins to produce a good amount of lather.

The Bath and Shower Creme is supposed to smell like pomegranate and ginger. The ingredients do not list pomegranate or ginger extracts, so they may be artificial fragrances.

I wouldn't have guessed that this was supposed to be pomegranate ginger if I hadn't read it on the label. When smelled out of the bottle, the scent reminds me a lot of grapefruit - fruity and a bit sweet, with hints of sourness and a little bitterness. When used as a bubble bath, it just added a light hint of unidentifiable fruity sweetness to the air. When used as a body wash, the smell is stronger and fills the room, but isn't overwhelming at all. In the shower I could actually detect a slightly spicy ginger scent, combined with some fruitiness, but there was nothing that I could identify as specifically pomegranate.

The scent lingers lightly on the skin for several hours after a shower or bath. I really only notice it when I put my nose near my skin, so other people won't be able to smell it unless they are very close to you.

The Bath and Shower Creme lathers well, cleanses effectively, and rinses cleanly from the skin with no residue left behind. The label claims that it is moisturizing, but I did not find that to be true at all. I don't really have dry skin and usually don't need to use any lotion, but when I used this as a body wash I found it made my skin feel a bit tight in certain areas and I needed to apply lotion to some parts of my body. I think it would work better for me in the summer, when my skin is more oily. When used as a bubble bath I didn't notice any tightness and didn't feel like it dried my skin out at all, but it didn't add any moisture either. My skin was left at its natural moisture level.

Used with a pouf as a body wash, a quarter sized amount is enough to cover my body in a thick lather. I like a lot of lather, so you could get away with less and still thoroughly clean the skin.



When used as a bubble bath, a lot more product is required. The product should be dispensed into running water to produce the most bubbles, After some trial and error, I found that a palm sized amount was enough to give me the amount of bubbles I like - about a 4 inch thick layer of foam. The bubbles weren't as long lasting as I would prefer. After 20 minutes, they were almost gone. It would work better for those who like shorter baths, since it won't last through a long soak.




After using this for 4 baths and 5 showers, I have used up about 1/3 of the bottle. If you only use it for showers, the bottle will last much longer.

The Bath and Shower Creme is packaged in an 8 oz container with an easy to open flip top lid. It is made from frosted plastic. It doesn't look cheap, and I would have no problem giving this as a gift. The labeling isn't overtly sexual, but some people may still not feel comfortable leaving this out. The front has the name of the product and company, and their slogan "beauty and sensuality in harmony" along with the fact that it contains pheromones. The back explains that it is "infused with pheromones...nature's sexual attractant." It also has the ingredient list, and an explanation about what some of the vitamins and plant extracts are intended to provide. Instructions for use are included.

All of the products in the Simply Sensual line are infused with pheromones, which are chemicals secreted by the body that trigger a response in members of the same species.. The Bath and Shower Creme contains the pheremones Copulandrone, Copuline-alike and Reconstituted Androne. I tried to do some research on these pheremones, but I could only find information about them on websites for companies selling products with pheremones, not from objective sources.

According to the Simply Sensual website, the amount of natural pheromones the human body is able to produce is usually quite small and decreases after bathing or using deodorant.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine - One of the more gentle surfactants (cleansing agents) used in skin-care products.

Cocomide MEA - Used mainly for it's foaming ability. Also a thickener/emulsifier.

Acrylates Copolymer - An ingredient with water-binding properties that leaves a smooth feel on skin. Can be a weak skin sensitizer.

Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract - Anti-irritant, anti-oxidant.

Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Flower Extract - Anti-oxidant, anti-mocrobial. Can cause reactions for those with allergies to other plants in the daisy family.

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) - Water soluble vitamin that is a powerful anti-oxidant for skin. Has been shown to increase collagen production, reduce the appearance of skin discolorations, enhance skin’s repair process, and reduce inflammation.

Propylene Glycol - A humectant (substance that helps retain water.) Also helps active ingredients penetrate the skin.

Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract - Can act as a thickener due to the pectin in contains. The label claims it will exfoliate, probably because Alpha Hydroxy Acid can be derived from apples, but apple extract won't have a high enough acid concentration to exfoliate.

Reconstituted Androne - Pheremone

Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) - A good anti-oxidant.

Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract - Aromatic ingredient that can cause skin irritation.

Sodium Hydroxide - Also known as lye, a highly alkaline ingredient used in small amounts as a pH adjuster. In large amounts it causes skin irritation.

Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) - A powerful antioxidant. Protects the skins barrier during cleansing.

Phenoxyethanol - A preservative that is considered one of the less irritating ones to use in formulations.

Potassium Sorbate - Used as a preservative in cosmetics and foods due to its ability to inhibit mold and yeast growth.

Fragrance (Parfum)- One (or a blend) of fragrant plant oils (or synthetically derived oils) that impart aroma to products. These are often skin irritants .

Red 33 (CI17200) - A colour additive approved for use in drugs and cosmetics.

I was cautious about trying this product due to all the plant extracts, but I was happy to find that I didn't experience an allergic reaction. It contains lavender extract, which I have had severe reactions to in the past. Once somebody who had just used a lavender soap simply touched my face and my eyes swelled shut, but I did not notice any irritation from this product.

The pheromones in the Bath and Shower Creme are supposed to increase sexual arousal, but I did not experience any effects. When I used it by myself, I did not notice myself becoming more aroused, and my boyfriend didn't seem to be any more attracted to me than usual. It's hard to judge the effects since we both have healthy sex drives and are very attracted to each other. Maybe if I'd gone out and tried to pick up some guys I'd have noticed a difference, but I wasn't willing to go that far for the sake of a review. When my boyfriend and I had a bubble bath together using this we were both very aroused, but I think that had more to do with being all naked and slippery and on top of each other than with the bubble bath we used.
