Almost a perfect idea

Yes, it is really a good idea to create the "portable magic wand". But it only sounds good when it comes to the final result called AcuVibe. Say I am picky, say I am too demanding - but this massager ended up stashed away, and its only saving grace is that it is still a good enough body vroomer!

Dare to read on to find out why! Why this weak and buzzy thing with its short runtime isn't the one you are looking for!

Use

It is rechargeable, aka portable, yes. It is powerful too, indeed. And its head is sized like the Hitachi Magic Wand's or the Fairy Wand Massager's to use the attachments with it, that's true as well.

Everything sounds so wonderful about the concept, but in practice it just didn't seem to work out for me. Or am I just too demanding maybe?

If you look for a rechargeable wand massager being much like the Hitachi you can choose either AcuVibe or Ideal. I have both, have tried both, and I must say that Ideal is the one I go with! But if you don't mind the sensation it gives then whether you are a power hungry beginner or an advanced toy lover, the external vrooms it will give are good enough to be enjoyable. Yes, it means both solo and couple's use, to please your precious one with it or use while you are mating away.

Material / Texture

AcuVibe is fully made of level 8 safety plastic, being completely non-porous, food-grade, hypo-allergenic and latex and phthalates free. The head is smooth, with three wavy ridges on its bottom running along the side. They are deep and hard enough to give extra pleasure for your hungry flesh. I wouldn't call them too rough at all, and they are something what I miss on the Ideal's completely smooth head. I find them to be perfect for beginners who feel the same about smooth surfaces, and advanced users will find the firmness wonderfully pleasing as well. The head's plastic seems to be just like the matte material the bottom part of the body has, the other sort being smoother and shiny. The same shiny plastic is used for the ridged slide button.

The smell and taste of the plastic are most pleasing, somewhat rubber-like, but not weirding those out who are sensitive when it comes to odors and flavors.

Design / Shape / Size

AcuVibe was made to be a body massager and not a pleasure toy, and for that purpose it works like a dream! The head is attached on a flexible neck, and the black version I have looks pretty beautiful with its dark shades. On the very bottom a light glows while it is being charged, being such a purrrrrrfectly blue shade that I fell in love with it! The charger hole is nearby, on the back in the bottom.

Its total length is 11 inches, and the largest diameter of the head is 2 1/8 inches. That is pretty much the largest spot of diameter on the entire massager. The length of the head is 2 1/4 inches, and the body is 8 1/2 inches long. (Neck not included!)

I couldn't call the shape beautiful, but it was designed to be a health accessory and not an item of intimate bliss. AcuVibe is somewhat heavy, being 3 pounds. It depends on your strength if your hand(s) will get tired in the short time of using it. (And you will see why I mention short available time!)

As it doesn't have any look of a pleasure item you really don't have to hide it anywhere, especially because it may be a problem with the bulky size. At least you can always justify to have it laying around, saying that it is for back massage, and other sore body parts!
Because of that I also say that it is suitable for travel, because nobody will wonder how come you are carrying a big ol' chunky vroomer with yourself! Unless you are doomed to take it in a large enough bag for it, it will fit into common spots of such purposes: suitcase, tossed into the car, put into a backpack, or just carried in a tote bag. And just don't respond to the impish grins of knowledgeable toy lovers finding your secret out!

Functions / Performance / Controls

The non-waterproof AcuVibe has two speeds, low and high. These are controlled by the slide button, being in OFF position when the button is in the middle, and with LO and HI it has to slide lower or higher.

You can feel the vrooms the best in the top area of the head, as the lower ridged area seems to be much weaker. The easy-to-use control surface matches what you would expect from a massager of this category: level 5 vrooms and horrible noises! Though in the case of the AcuVibe you don't have to worry about such a loudness as long as you don't apply pressure on the head! Because when the neck is bent (and I ALWAYS use pressure on my pleasure toys) AcuVibe will growl out like some yawning beast! Or something similar. Couldn't find a better expression, and you will hear why, when you hear that noise too.

You would expect that a hand-held massager is designed to be used for hours of pleasure, because who wouldn't want to revel in some vroomy, muscle relaxing 'ssage sometimes? Now read on and be outraged, or min. mighty surprised and not happy to hear such news:

1 hour charge: 5 minutes of use
8 hour charge: 25 minutes on high, 35 minutes on low
16 hour charge: 35 minutes on high, 50 minutes on low

And this is just approximate. Not to mention that the initial charge takes 8 hours, which would be quite alright if it didn't have to be so long all the time! So practically you don't only get a rechargeable massager what runs for a barely longer time than the Hitachi, you also have to charge it for a ridiculously long time for some short vroomy delights! It's pretty much that after you have drained it, hissing and cursing that it stopped working before you wanted to put it away, you plug it in to charge for the entire Night. This totally reminds me of the Chandra finger massager, which had to be charged after every single use, but it wasn't half as strong as one would expect it from a luxury toy!

Because indeed, for body massage AcuVibe is excellent like I said before! But there is just something about the powerful vrooms which didn't captivate my power-obsessed soul - something what made me give up calling it the Number One Large Massager!

Compared to similar known massagers (aka Hitachi and Fairy) you will notice that not as much power nestles inside the head as in the other two's. Of course we, who had been having our eyes on AcuVibe, or still intend to obtain it, want to be able to enjoy mighty vrooms without having to be bound to plug in electricity. But is the less power worth the comfort? As I doubt it to tell the truth that those who are interested in this massager look for such a vroomer because of any other reason than wanting the might and force of the well-known and much beloved plug in massagers! At least in my case, it takes extra focus and efforts to get fully pleasured with it. Yes, it does satisfy you - but the vrooms seem to be weaker, and they don't only spread around in the head, not being focused, they also seem to be buzzier than the deep and rumbly Hitachi's or Fairy's!

And of course the low speed is enough only for some ladies and gentlemen. For me there is no massager (as I had to find out) what would work in any way with lower speeds than the highest one. Meaning, it will also run for a shorter time than it would on low speed. Meh...

Weaker, weaker, buzzy, buzzy! So very different that I just stay with the Hitachi and Fairy Wand!
    • Easy to use
    • Not enough variety
    • Rechargeable

Care and Maintenance

Other than doing your best to keep this non-waterproof rechargeable massager dry, no matter what, you don't have to bother much to keep it clean and safe. As hard plastic is completely non-porous you will be able to share it with anyone you please, and you will also be able to use any kinds of lubricants on it! Yes dear readers, all of the water-, silicone- and oil-based lubes will be happily welcome to give you all the pleasure you want! Just don't forget to be careful about keeping them on the head only, to avoid ruining your AcuVibe!

You can clean it carefully either with hot water and antibacterial soap, or wiping it with isopropyl alcohol.

I have been storing it in its original package for reviewing purposes so far, and I doubt it will change nowadays because of its monstrous size! As long as the paper box holds up I am fine with it, though it takes up more space than the massager itself would need.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The packaging is simple and casual. Yes, it is a body massager anyway, not a pleasure toy. Black, brownish light gray and some brownish dark gray rule the tones of the white texted, long hard paper box. Basic info and some pictorial helps are given on the package, and the manual inside is written in English and French. Two thick cartons embrace AcuVibe on the top and the bottom, shaped a lot like egg cartons. The AC wall outlet is in a large white paper box, being black and mighty big.

I do think that enough information is provided in the manual, though I must laugh at it saying that AcuVibe is whisper quiet! Funny or not, the box is still sturdy enough to be used for storage, though you may want to find some other waterproof solution to save some space. The bulkiness of the box is more than twice as wide as the massager itself, and much longer as well of course.

You can dare to take it with yourself everywhere and send it as a gift too, because having a body massager around is always a pleasure, and totally accepted morally in this society. Nobody will know that sometimes you touch it to your precious flesh, and the loud noises may cover your enthusiastic voice up...
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative

Personal comments

Of course this review is written by someone who is extremely picky when it comes to powerful vrooms! Users who don't need such an incredible force may find amazing pleasures in this massager, and probably many of the most demanding power queens too! I just realized that the more pleasure toys I try and use, the more powerful ones I tend to stick to! And the more it happens the less satisfying I find many of the strongest vibes!

AcuVibe will probably be excellent for those who have never tried the Hitachi Magic Wand and the Fairy Wand Massager - though know please that I didn't find the Hitachi's vrooms "oh-so-mindblowing" after a few uses, but was still extremely pleased with them! (It really depends on your taste what is most powerful for you. I found the EXTREMELY buzzy My Mini-Miracle Massagers (the pink Pleasure Kit and the purple Electro Power Kit) the most powerful pleasure toys so far, though they really numb your fingers so much and weird your spot out sometimes that even I have to have little breaks with them!)

You can take a try with it if you want to, because indeed, there aren't too many "ultra powerful" portable massagers out there...

Experience

I have tried AcuVibe two times as I remember: first with my OnlyMaster, Who used it on me like the Hitachi Magic Wand, and for the second time by myself.

Applying it as a mating vroomer wasn't entirely as I expected. It doesn't come close to the Hitachi's deep and rumbly vrooms spreading all over your flesh, and the buzzier, more surface kind of vibrations don't seem to provide enough arousal for me to achieve full pleasure while I am enjoying my time with my Master in the most wonderful ways, aka mating away.

Using it by myself after the first, little bit disappointing experience, it probably just added to the frustration that I was already telling myself it wouldn't work as good. And indeed, after a while of trying to enjoy the buzzy surface vibrations being everywhere but not hitting any craving nerve in my flesh, I just put it aside and reached towards another massager for my hungry spot.

As I recall, those two were the only times I was willing to mess with this massager, unless there was a third one with similar results. And even if it did manage what I got it for, the memories don't seem to be strong enough to make me remember any blissful experiences. For me it takes more focusing and more efforts to enjoy the AcuVibe than it takes with other, less fancy "power-horses".

Why in the world does it have the name AcuVibe? Is it something like "accurately missing the right spots"? Then I can understand the funnily creative naming!
Follow-up commentary
I must say that yep, it provides fine vrooms, and yep, it is rechargeable. But I still can't get past the awful lack of power I didn't expect from this massager, called "better than Hitachi" by many!

It is chilling away in my closet, only because it is pretty large to put anywhere else at the moment (in O/our wonderful, luxurious RV) - otherwise I would find a more remote spot for it to hang out, as I will definitely not use it in the near future!

Oh well, I have it handy anyway, as it is still a better alternative, because of being a somewhat powerful vibe...

Weak and buzzy...bummer. I have been looking for a rechargeable wand, but I don't know if I'll find one that compares to my Hitachi. This doesn't sound like it would be a good choice. Thanks for the review.

That's too bad that it takes a long time to recharge and you can't use it very long.
