After Shave oil - aftershave discontinued by DevineToys / AfterCare - review by rosythorn

So I live in a tropical environment, where it is recommended that you don't shave because there is a heightened risk of bacterial infections. Sounds like a great excuse not to shave, right? Wrong! It just makes it more socially acceptable because you are going sleeveless all the time!


So I began the search for an all natural after shave. Something to help me combat this risk. I think I found it!

It is an oil based spray, mostly natural with a few added unnatural ingredients to help prevent razor burn! Here is a list of ingredients:

Ingredients:
Isopropyl Myristate, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Oil, Salicylic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Mineral Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retyinyl Palmitate, Squalane, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Phenoxyethanol.

As you can see, mostly natural. Unlike you might think, this stuff is not like rubbing in baby oil!


Texture and Smell

The color is a soft amber inside of the bottle, but once you use it, it's clear. The spray bottle does a nice job of covering a wide area like you leg. Just three spurts and I am done! For other areas, I spray into my hands and rub it in. Just once is usually enough. It feels a bit oily at first, but once you rub it in, it is quite nice!

The smell is really natural, almost herbal/woodsy smell. However, this nice scent does not last. Once you rub the oil into your skin it effectively disappears. I suppose that means it is being absorbed by your body.

Performance:

It also makes your skin feel really smooth once you use it! I tried shaving without using it and I can really tell a difference! Your skin is just smoother and almost more nourished just by spraying it down once!


Overall, this product appears to be great! I haven't had any razor bumps, except for the one time I did not use the spray, and so far no strange tropical skin infections, except ringworm, but I don't think the bottle said it would prevent fungal infections.

I have even sprayed some into my hand and put it on my face, because my skin was really dry that day. Mind you, I kept it far far away from the eyebrows and eyes.


Overall:

I would recommend this product. I haven't used it for after waxing, but for shaving it does a very good job. Doesn't feel oily, smells nice, absorbs nicely, and I have been using it for 2 months and have barely made a dent in the bottle. I will buy it again.

I still use this every time I shave. I have now switched from waxing to chemical hair removers, and I use the spray with these. It works very well. I wait 24 hours before using it. My skin just feels softer after I use this.

It will not prevent fungal infections such as ringworm, but I don't think many people who don't live in the tropics have to worry about this.

Overall, I will be buying this again!
