When looking at this product, I thought to myself “This could be fun”. In the end, we did have a bit of fun with it. Shimmer cream is something of a unique item, and caught my eye when browsing the large selection this site has to offer. The package comes very simply. All that arrives is a small 1.25 fl oz container filled with cream. If it weren’t for the stickers proclaiming it to be “Sensuous Beauty Shimmer Cream”, you would not find it out of place in the usual female collection of beauty products. I suspect that we will remove the evidence of its true nature, and hide it in plain sight in the future.

The first thing that I noticed about the cream and its container was the smell. It has a very strong vanilla smell. I have a bit of a sensitive nose, so in the container it is a bit intense for me. Fortunately, when spread onto the skin, the amount is reduced and so is the potency of the smell. It goes from a significant smell, to a light hint when used in moderation.

The cream itself is a light tan color, but it blends in very well when spread. We used it only on moderately tanned white skin, but I am assuming that it would blend just as well on others. Obviously, the more cream that you apply, the more of the gold sparkle is visible. It works best in moderate to high lighting, and contrast always helps (sorry to all those who are more on the pale side).

Aside from the sparkles, the cream is chock full of goodness. It has sunflower oil, beeswax, shea butter, vitamins, extracts, and all those other things that are good for your skin. It does make your skin silky smooth as well as sparkly, and that’s never a bad thing. The only caution given is to avoid the eye area, but that is pretty self evident. One of the best and worst part of this cream, is how easy it is to clean off. Wiping it with a towel removes most of the sparkle, and soap and water will get all of it. A quick shower will have you back to your usual, non-scintillating self. This is a very good thing for those who want to look presentable in a quick, but it has an unforeseen consequence. It transfers, very well in fact. If your partner is using this cream, expect to look like you’ve been making homemade cards too. You will both be covered in glitter by the time you’re through, and depending on where you applied it, so will whatever you’re on.

All this being said, it’s a fun product. It draws attention to wherever it’s spread, and the smooth sheen makes for a good time. It is unfortunate that it spreads so easily, but that is to be expected with this kind of product. The smell is good when applied, the shimmer is noticeable, and the jar can be hidden with small modifications. If you’re looking for a cheap product that’s good for a few laughs and thrills, we can definitely recommend a jar of Shimmer Cream.
Follow-up commentary
We've used this cream a few times since our initial review, and we've had fun every time. It's a lot of fun if you don't mind a little mess. You basically have to reserve some time for the post coital towel down or shower. While the price is a little steep, we really haven't even chipped into our supply. It spreads nicely, so you don't use very much at a time, and it gives a good coat. This is still a good product, and we stand behind it.

I hope you have as much fun as we did with this. Just make sure to take a shower or do a quick sparkle check when you're done, as glitter can be hard to explain away, especially for guys.

In your opinion, is there any benefit over this as compared to a similar (and probably cheaper) item from Bath and Body Works?
  • Contributor: BrokeNHorny
The only difference is it looks like this product has a higher concentration of glitter as compared to Bath and Body Works products. This cream is not meant to have subtle shimmer, but a noticable one. That being said, yeah, the cheaper one would work just fine.

Thanks for the reply. I really don't find products like this especially sexual or worthy of such a price.

Yeah, $23 is a bit steep for a relatively small jar. In its defense, it will last you several times, and the shimmer is noticeable. It really only makes sense for people who know they'd have a good time with it. The concept is kind of silly, but that's what made it fun for me and my partner.

Gah, only 1.25 fl oz! But you did mention that a little goes a long way.... If I had more occasion to use this, it might be a nice shimmery body balm. Great, detailed review!
