Lubricant discontinued
by K-Y Brand

Not A Fan

At least K-Y is making lube easily accessible and more acceptable but there are lots of better choices out there and once you try them you probably won't use this again.
Easy to find and water-based
Gets sticky quickly. Well known packaging means it's not discreet at all.

useful review

K-Y was the first lube I ever tried and once I had tried something else I never went back. It might work for a quickie but it dries up quickly and I don't like how it feels. The gel gets gummy and sticky after just a few minutes. On the plus side, I never had any bad reactions to it and it's water based so it's toy and condom compatible. If nothing else was available I might give it another try but only as a last resort. Overall K-Y is just not something I can recommend.

It probably doesn't help the review that the first time I saw this was in my mother's dresser drawer when I was a kid. Most of my generation would probably say the same.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Thick gel that goes on easy but gets sticky quickly. Not a fan of the texture at all; it doesn't have a natural feel.

    • Textured

Taste / Aroma

Not much scent, I can't speak for the taste. My boyfriend never mentioned a taste, however, so I would assume it's not noticeable.
    • No smell

Very short lasting, gets sticky quickly, and needs to be constantly reapplied. I always felt I had to wash it off afterwards but at least it washes away easily with water. It's probably good enough for a short session, but why settle?
    • Dries up too fast
    • Gets sticky
    • Reapply often

K-Y's packaging is pretty well known and looks more like a medical ointment (I believe it was originally created for medical use) than anything else. Very recognizable.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Not discreet
    • Travel friendly

I know it is difficult with lubes to flesh out each section, but it would certainly make your review more useful. KY serves a purpose, but it really isn't sex. It is readily available and good for inserting something once (which is what you are usually doing with it in the medical field), but that's about it. Thanks for the review.
