JO H2O cool lubricant - cooling lubricant by System JO - review by iovys

I bought this lube because I like cold in intimate areas and because I was starting to run out of my usual lube. Eden shipped it in a lengthy zip-lock bag & their usual plain, brown cardboard box along with all the other toys I had ordered. The lubricant overall performs a little bit underwhelmingly. I'm an overall very wet person, and I rarely need any assistance in that regard. However, when I did need it, I wasn't very impressed with System JO's Cool Lubricant.

This lubricant has a slight menthol scent; the kind that you get from those cooling gels used on sore, aching muscles. I do like that scent, but it may steer others away, especially if they want to use it with oral sex. I didn't taste it, though, as it's not labeled an edible lube. It also doesn't last very long - both the cooling effect and the slick it should be providing. I find that if I'm having a particularly bad (dry) day, I need to constantly re-apply it, perhaps every 2-3 minutes, which isn't very sexy. The cooling effects are weak and last about 3-4 minutes tops, with a generous application.

The texture of the product itself is about as thick as cooking oil, perhaps a bit more watery. If I don't put too much of it, it will stay where I applied it, rather than sliding off. It seems to absorb into the skin very quickly, and it leaves it feeling rather matte. There is no sticky residue (thankfully), but the menthol scent remains for about an hour after use. I always try to wash it away after I'm done, and it cleans off very easily because it's water-based. It doesn't fend very well in the shower. Even after washing it away, I can still sometimes feel the ghost of the cooling effect for another hour or so, as it's been absorbed into the tissue.

Another thing I noticed about this lubricant is that on sensitive days, it burns. And not in the kinky way that we would hope. It burns to the point where I have to stop what I'm doing and rinse it off and keep the water running for a good ten minutes. If you somehow got a cut or tear, it may burn you. Not something very sexy, either. I never had this issue or the constant-need-to-reapply with my usual choice of lubricant.

I really, really dislike the fact that lubricant companies are using potentially dangerous ingredients in their products. With extended use, Methyl Paraben & Propyl Paraben can mimic the way estrogen works, leading to changes in menstrual cycles, affecting male fertility, and even breast cancer has been linked to it. Please be wary of what you use on your skin! Companies using these ingredients always reassure us they're safe, but keep in mind - it's their job to sell the product, and they won't be the ones suffering the consequences. I will not be buying another bottle of this lube for that reason alone.

I had pretty high hopes for System JO Cool Lube, but it's really nothing extraordinary - especially with the fact that their choice of ingredients is rather concerning. If it had produced better results during use, perhaps I would've given it 3 stars, but the constant need to re-apply, the fact that the cooling effect lasts for several minutes at best, and that the ingredients can be considered borderline toxic does not make me very happy. I'm going right back to my regular lube as soon as I get my hands on another bottle of it, and System JO Cool is going in the trash.
