Nurse Juana B. Sedated - costume discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The Nurse Juana B Sedated costume by DreamGirl is available in sizes S-3X/4X. I had purchased the size XL. I really liked this outfit when I first seen the stock photo. I loved the ruffles on the bum and the fact that the outfit came with the stethoscope. A lot of nurse outfits do not include one with the outfit.

The outfit is 5 pieces: the dress, name badge, apron, stethoscope, and hat. It came in a large, durable plastic bag that has a snap closure and a hanger at the top. The front of the packaging states the product name, included contents, size, suggested weight bracket for the specific size, company name, and company contact information. There are also 2 photos on the front- a front view and a back view of a model wearing the outfit. I usually hang my costumes up in my closet or keep them in a drawer. I like using the durable bags that costumes come in for nylons, special panties, etc.



Inside of the bag, the dress is wrapped around a thin piece of cardboard and surrounded by plastic. The other pieces are also wrapped in plastic. The outfit is 100% polyester, the stethoscope is plastic, and the nametag seems to be a thick cardboard. The outfit does have stretch to it and it does not seem to become sheer the more it is stretched. Below are a few measurements of the outfit laying flat, unstretched. If you need additional measurements, please let me know and I will get them for you.

Width (not including ruffle trim): 5 ¾ inches
Length (not including ruffle trim): 2 5/8 inches
Ribbon ties: just less than 16 inches each

Apron
Width (not including ruffle trim): 6 ¼ inches

Red ribbon (that wraps around the body and ties at the back): 72 inches

Dress
Chest (armpit to armpit): 18 ¼ inches
Length (armpit to bottom): 22 inches
Width at bottom of dress: 24 ¼ inches
Length of sleeves (armpit to end of sleeve): 2 inches

The nametag is 3 1/8 inches long and 1 1/8 inches tall. It has a broach style pin at the centre back so that you can attach and detach it to the costume. The front of the tag is red and white in colour and reads, “NURSE” on the top line and “Juana B. Sedated” on the bottom. It’s a bit silly but nice that they added it.



As mentioned, the stethoscope is plastic. Does it work like a real stethoscope? No. It’s similar to something you’d find at the dollar store. There are two white/clear pieces at each end of the stethoscope, which you put into your ears. These little pieces are not secure to the stethoscope so you may want to glue gun them on to it so you do not lose them. The length from the top of the earpiece to the centre of the stethoscope is approximately 10 inches. The length from the centre to the bottom of the piece is 21 inches (so a total length of 31 inches).



The hat is just a flap of fabric with two red ribbons attached to it. You tie the ribbon around your head to secure it in place. The hat is white with a red heart at the centre. In the centre of this heart is a white cross. There is a red ruffle trim along the top and sides of the hat. The trim is ¾ of an inch in length.



The apron is attached to a very thick, long red ribbon. The ribbon is 1 ½ inches in length. You tie this ribbon at the back of your body. The design is the same as the hat- white with a red heart and a white cross at the centre. It also has red ruffle trim around the bottom and sides. The ruffle trim is 1 inch in length.



The main colour of the dress is white. There are red cuffs on the arms that have the white cross at the centre of them. The cuffs are 1 ½ inches in length. There is criss-crossing elastic band (so it’s stretchy) at the centre of the chest. The chest area is not padded and there is no underwire. You may want to wear a pair of pasties or similar item if you are concerned about nipple outline.

At the bottom front of the dress, there are 2 areas with ribbon pulls. There are 2 areas down the back as well. You can pull the ribbons and tie them for a ruched look. The ribbons are 7 ¾ inches in length and there are 2 ribbons to each area. When you pull these ribbons, the above fabric will gather giving it that ruched look but it will also make the dress shorter at these specific areas. There is approximately 9 inches of length to these areas that can be adjusted.



The ruffles at the back (where your bum goes) are tiered. There are 9 rows of ruffles, and then the trim at the bottom of the dress. The red ruffle trim at the bottom goes all the way around the dress and is approximately 1 ¾ inches in length. The tiered ruffles on the bum have a total length of 13 inches.

The weight bracket suggested for the size XL is 160-180lbs. I’m within this bracket and I’m 5’6 in height. The outfit was snug but it fit me and was comfortable to wear. The length of the dress is a bit short. I probably wouldn’t wear it out in public without some sort of leggings. If I were to bend over, my bum would be exposed. You can see a few photos of the outfit on me below.



Underwear lines can be seen through the outfit and I assume bra outlines as well (I didn’t wear a bra with the outfit). My C cups fit well in the chest area and I believe a D would fit as well because it’s stretchy.

The material is non-irritating to the skin. The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed in cold water and line dried. The stethoscope can be wiped down with soap and water.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with this outfit. I love the ruffled bum the most but the entire outfit is very cute. My partner really likes it on me as well. It’s a great outfit for role playing or costume parties. The only issue I had was with the stethoscope ear buds but these can easily be glued to secure them. I would definitely recommend this outfit to others!

I still love this outfit actually. I think that I may use this as my Halloween outfit actually. I've purchased outfits since the Nurse Juana B. Sedated but they haven't fit me as nicely or they were not as lengthy. This is probably one of the nicest outfits I have (and I have a lot).
