Velvety bliss.

While I'm completely in love with this corset, it is not at all what I expected. It has a few quirks, but it's still something I'm going to cherish. Uncomfortable boning makes this a play-time piece only, and not an all-day piece.

extremely useful review
I was so excited to get this corset in. As soon as it arrived, I put it on. It came in a plastic bag, on a cute little black padded hanger. The straps for the corset, and the detachable garter belts were packaged in small bags and attached to the corset. Removing the attached bags can lead to rips, so I would advise cutting them off rather than just pulling them off. Also attached was a photo of the model in the corset, front view, and back. I still adore this corset even though it wasn't exactly what I expected. The cons are all something I can deal with. Not to mention my boyfriend LOVES me in this.

I got a medium in this. I've ordered from Coquette before and a medium has always fit. According to the size chart, a medium should be:
Dress/pant sizes 8 - 10
B cup
Bust of 36 - 38
Waist of 26 - 30
Hip size of 38 - 40.

My actual measurements are:
Dress/pant size 8,
Cup size 36 B
My waist is 32
Hip size 38

With that said, when I first tried this on I could only get the top eyelets to secure on the larger setting, and the middle and bottom eyelets I could get on the small setting. Seeing as my bust is within the size chart, and it was VERY tight, I'd say that sizing is a bit off because it was tight on my bust, but not on my waist, which should be too big for the sizing. Now that I've worn the item a few times, I can get all of the eyelets secured on the smaller setting. I think this also has to do with the rip, which is mentioned later in the review. The corset is made out of Polyester, with metal boning. The item says the cup size is one size fits most, which it should read one size fits none. Every review I have read has had a problem with the cups. Laid out flat unhooked the corset is 28.5 inches long and the eyelet closers are almost 14 inches in height. When secured on the larger setting, the corset is 14 inches long. (If you pull out the cinching in the middle of the corset everything lays out evenly.) The cups are 7 inches wide (throughout the widest section) and have a height of 5 inches (This is measured by the longest section of the cup. The shortest inner most part of the cup is only 3 inches high.) The cups have no give to them, and buckle at the top. (Picture shown below.)

I completely adore this corset. I think it gives me a nice figure, even if it isn't the expected figure. I have very long legs and a short torso, so my hips and ribs are close together. I have a hard time finding corsets that give me the same shape as the models in the photos, so any hourglass shape makes me very happy. The velvet doesn't feel cheap, or like it's going to wear off quickly in any one spot. The boning feels very strong, yet still flexible. The little buttons at the top are adorable and probably my favorite feature. The cups on the top have a cute little non-velvet detail that really make the top look classy. The corset does have two sets of eyelets so you can wear it tighter or looser. It's also rather stretchy in the back, giving a little give on the sizing.

When I got the corset it had a hole in the inner lining of it. It was in the middle panel, and it was large enough for me to stick my thumb in. I thought it was not a big deal and that I could sew it up later. I figured I could also get a photo of the small hole later, as I was dying to try it on. When I tried it on, I got it all the way to the top on the eyelets, and when I went to bend down to pick up the garters, I heard a rip. When I removed the corset I found that what was once a small hole was now completely ripped down the entire lining. I won't be returning the item now, because it is my fault that it is completely ripped. The corset fits a bit looser now that the lining has been ripped on the one section, but it's still tight when I wear it on the tighter eyelets.

I couldn't exactly get a photo of how awkward the top made my boobs, but I did try. The cups on this are so tight, it says that it should fit a B cup. I'm a very small B cup, and my boobs were being squeezed out of the top. It gives you that look you get when you have overflow on a bra that is too small. The detailing on the top of the corset also constantly flips up when it's being worn, and creases, which is what gives you the awkward boob. Because of this, I doubt I'll be wearing the corset out and about on its own. The boning on the side looks like it will give you great shape when it's hanging on the hanger. In reality, when you put it on, it cinches very tightly. If you aren't already small this could result in looking like you have a huge muffin top. I also found that while wearing the piece, I was getting stabbed by the boning as I moved around, and I'd have to adjust the piece up or down to be comfortable again.

I also found a few holes around the top of the corset where the velvet is attached to the trim. I plan on sewing them up.

Here are photos of the corset on.

This photo shows more of how the corset looks when you first put it on. It gives you a really nice shape and is pretty comfortable.

This photo shows how the corset bends into your sides after moving around in it. The corset is very comfortable when standing or laying down, but when I sit the side boning digs into my skin. I attempted to wear the corset out under a shirt for the entire day, I know some corsets take some breaking in. After only 4 hours of wearing it, I had to take it off because I was bleeding pretty horribly. I think that if you buy this in a larger size and use it less as a corset and more as a cute top, you won't have this problem.

With all of the cons, and the rip, and awkward fit, I somehow still love this corset. I think I just fell so madly in love with it the moment I saw it that I'm refusing to dislike it. There are a lot of faults to the corset, but if you're willing to overlook them, it's a nice piece. It's not overly pricy as well.
