Bdisappointed

We give the Bcurious 3 stars - which is kind of generous. What it lacks in power it makes up for through its very well thought out design and the quality of the workmanship. If you don't need strong vibes - this could be a 5-star product for you.

Use

This is the first time I have used the extended format for a review. I did so because the BCurious was such a disappointment I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to find enough material to do a good review - but I'm going to do my best to be fair.

Bcurious is obviously a clitoral only vibrator - there is no possibility for vaginal or anal penetration - so in that way it's a one-trick pony.

The Bcurious vibrator is the right toy for a woman looking for a discrete, quiet clit vibe - and can achieve orgasm without a lot of power - or maybe a woman who likes to use a clit vibe to warm-up before moving on to bigger and better things. Although the vibes are not very strong - if you are fan of patterned vibrations you may like the Bcurious - there are 3-speeds and 4 patterns.

Women who are ecologically oriented will like the rechargeable feature - and although it isn't waterproof, we found it quite easy to cover the charging port for clean up.

Although the cost may be above a coed's budget - the discrete size and relatively low noise level would make Bcurious a good choice for your dorm or shared apartment.

For the traveling lady executive you could throw the Bcurious in your purse and pass it right under the scanner - just tell them it's your computer mouse!

Material / Texture

The Bcurious vibe is made from ABS plastic covered with a smooth - but not slick layer of silicone - I would call it matte black silicone. There is zero odor and no texture. I'd say this is definitely a beginners product - it's just not priced like a beginner's product.

Design / Shape / Size

Without a doubt this toy is well designed and well made. The quality is excellent. The ergonomics are superb it fits into your hand like it was made for it - and indeed it was. Size wise the vibe is about 4" in length and about 1.5" wide in the palm of your hand and tapers to a near point where the vibes are focused for direct application to the clitoris.

The silicone covering the plastic - also covers the controls protecting them from water and making it easy to clean-up.

The charging port has a little plastic cover to help you keep lube and water out of the electronics - but honestly - you probably shouldn't need much lube for this toy - just be careful not to get water in the charging port when it's cleanup time.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Once you have Bcurious charged and ready to go - it would be a good idea to cycle through the vibration patterns to acquaint yourself with how they work - and which ones might work best for you. Once you get that figured out - count the number of clicks it takes to get from point A to point B. If you don't the choices end up being more of a nuisance that a feature.

Rather than have 3 speeds and 4 patterns - this toy would be better if there were 5 speeds and 3 patterns - like SinFive's vibes which we like much more.

One little quirk of the design is that the controls are placed under your palm presumably to allow your thumb to change speeds on-demand. My wife didn't invest the time to figure out the patterns and got pretty frustrated trying to find a setting that she liked.
    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

The best use for the Bcurious is for a private clitoral orgasm. In this scenario you shouldn't need lube - and if you do a very small dab should do it. Because it has silicone cover you should not use a silicone lube - it's best to stick with water-based - although a little coconut oil or cocoa based product works fine.

When washing I always recommend warm water and antibacterial soap - just make sure to cover the charging port and don't immerse the Bcurious in the water. If you're really fastidious - I suppose you can sterilize with alcohol or bleach - the silicone will tolerate that just fine.

It comes with a nice little storage pouch to make it both travel and bedside friendly.

As a rechargeable product, you'll have to figure out how frequently yo charge it. My wife never found it satisfying so we never ran it for more than 5-10 minutes at a time and you could do that many times on a single charge - if your using it for long sessions I'm pretty confident the batter will hold up well.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

Bcurious comes well packaged and well documented. I don't keep original packaging - we jut have too many toys - our bedroom would start to look like a warehouse - but the nice little velvet sleeve protects it nicely in the drawer full of it's competitors for 'playing time'. BSwish seems like a very high quality organization committed to making good products.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Very informative

Personal comments

The bottom line for us that you hate to spend $80 for what is advertised as a high-end toy - then have to throw it on the corner because it just deliver. After all what do you buy a clit vibe for - if not to give you a fairly easy - but strong orgasm. The Bcurious is just too weak to deliver on that basic requirement for my wife. The good news is that it's on sale at 25% off - so you won't have to pay quite so much.
Follow-up commentary
I paid so much for the BCurious, I've trotted it out several times to she if my wife will change her mind, - but she just yawns and says, 'Its OK, but lets move on.' Her way of saying she needs more power. For sell or trade for anyone interested!

Thanks for the review! It sounds like the most common complaint is lack of power for those who need more.

SouthernBelle - that's right. My wife (who is also a southern belle) likes lots of power.
